One of my fave tunes. I spring it on guys at open mics all the time. Too many drummers can't do 6/8.
Nice take Red. Like you use of repetition.
Ed, you never cease to entertain. Love the fire.

Great track Ant! I'm all over this baby! In the morning....
Ant-killer tone and sweet motific ideas. Smooth and silky the way I love it. Great take.
Ed- Other than the dog party, I think I preferred the mp3 take. Nice ideas and cool tones. Some interesting harmonic things going on there. :dude
Can't wait to jump on this one!

Very cool song, Ant. I've been living under a rock for most of my life so I've never heard this one before. (I did my homework though and listened to the Wayne Shorter version. ;) )
I love your tone and playing, but I especially appreciate the education I'm getting on jazz standards. Thanks for sharing!
I'm gonna work on this tomorrow. :D

Hmmm.... Ever since seeing Scott live you are riding the bar?? LOL
Awesome stuff! A bit microtonal maybe? Was that on purpose or a side effect of the bar? In any event, I may not post now you bastard! J/k... If I can sneak downstairs now, I'll try and give it a go.

Yeah, I'm not really doing the "bar" thing all the time, just on this take, and every now and then.....
I was actually going for some microtonal things.....just trying out something different.....
Now, get to tracking YOUR take!

I think it was a compliment! Here is the definition of machinations (this is the word Scott meant) You have to admit, your piece was quite elaborate and devious! Scotty sure knows his syntax! Now I know not to cut heads with him on teh axe or with the pen!

Ouch, I'm so hurt. Really, do you think it matters whether somebody dislikes my playing or not?
FWIW, maybe you should check that ego at the door. It isn't proportional to your playing.

It's hardly ego that inspired my opinion.
I suck a little bit more each day, and can only hope to hang on for another few years, with my current hand problems, newborn with Down Syndrome, etc.
I just don't "get" your attitude towards me.
Until my moment of honesty with you, I've never had a bad word to say about you.

I do like the Wizzies... I still need to play around with the Tonespotter. This clip was Cl80. I have to apologize for the clip I posted. I was experimenting with the e609 and the clip is real honky. I think I'll record a new clip. I can't listen to this one...
Thanks for listening Mark.
[edit] I was so bugged by the honky tone, I did this little snippet with the SM57 mic and the Heatley in single coil mode. Much better.... Tomorrow I will redo the whole thing. http://www.scottlernermusic.com/mayclips/AntPrintsNewTone.MP3

Thanks Scott. your stuff sounded great. Wish i had the speed and ability to move all over like you guys do but im self taught and cant read music and dont know scales and stuff so i just kinda play where ever my fingers go...and they are fat fingers :)
As for gear, im just a living room rock star....Ibanez RG370 on all my stuff lately. My Jem is in the shop for a major overhaul. Its 19 years old and need some TLC. played and recorded thru a GNX4. As i told Ant when i posted this elsewhere, i screwed up on the gain sectino and hit the wrong bank...instead of my fuzzychorus thing i wound up with an Eddie Van Halen preset i had made. After i started into it i realized it didnt sound right, looked down and saw why. but, i got line drived in the hand this week and it was hurting too bad to start over :)
Also recently discovered that this GNX4 volume pedal also was a WAH pedal so that was my second attempt at using one. As i told him, im not sure i posess the dexterity to use one tho cause it fries my brain trying to coordinate feet and fingers together

Um... Not sure what you based your opinion on in regards to Scott's playing Ed. But if ego allowed were in proportion to playing, this man can have one the size of Alaska and change. (BTW Scott does not have an ego. He is actually quite the opposite. Check out his web page.)
I have listend to tons of clips of his playing and it is astounding in all regards. Phrasing, technique, speed, tone, harmonic note choices, timing, vibrato, versitility. His abilitly to play incredibly powerful, harmonicaly colored "outside" lines while getting "inside" the changes are on equal footing with "any" of the best. A players, player indeed. Let's all wish him the absolute best of luck(I don't think he needs it) in the Guitar Player Magazine, Guitar Hero competition that he has been selected to be in the top 10 finals. Now I am sure he is cringing at my posting this info, because of his lack of ego, but I think it is something special, and all of Gear Page should know about it. And anyone in the Cleveland area should check this out.
Peace,
Duffy King
From Scott Jone's web page:
"Guitar Player magazine has launched it's own version of American Idol, called Guitar Hero and last year they asked for submissions from all over the world. I received a phone call on April 28th 2005, from the Managing Editor and Chief, saying that they were blown away by my track and I've made the FINAL 10! They will be flying me to Cleveland the weekend of June 10-12 to perform one song of my choice, with a live band at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in front of judges Steve Lukather (Toto), Joe Satriani and others. It will be webcast all over the planet. And each of the 10 finalists will receive major press coverage in an upcoming issue of Guitar Player Magazine. From the GP site: “GP’s Guitar Hero 2005 is part of the CMJ/RockFest, which is being held all over Cleveland during the weekend of June 10-12. The winner of GP’s Guitar Hero will receive a mammoth gear package, as well as get one of their songs included on CMJ’s New Music Monthly CD that reaches tens of thousands of music business executives and tastemakers across North America. Guitar Hero 2005 is sponsored by Gibson and Audio-Technica.”

Thank you guys for all the nice words. You're way too kind!On a side note ScottL is right about what I use and I really don't want to brag about it but:#1.buying the THD 2X12" cab from our own Scott Peterson was one of the smartest things I've done in the past few years:D and #2.acquiring a Fuchs head and having it modded and tweaked by ScottL was the next best thing to having an amp custom-built for me(thanks again to Scott for being so kind)!I've never been happier with my gear especially now that I also have my new Suhr Classic!Oh and BTW,I'm not getting paid by any of the above manufacturers....uh,at least not yet,I hope:p Thanks again, everyone!
