I was the technical lead for spacecraft assembly, test, and launch operaitons on the Kepler program. This pretty cool news just came out the other day:
WASHINGTON – A NASA telescope has found the smallest planet outside our solar system and it is rocky just like Earth.
But it is way too hot for any life. One side of the planet is about 2,700 degrees Fahrenheit. The planet is called Kepler 10-b after the telescope that found it.
NASA scientist Natalie Batalha (Bah-TAL'-ya) said the planet is about 1.4 times the and has a mass about 4 1/2 times our planet's. Astronomers have found other planets outside our solar system that are closer in mass to Earth, but none this small in width.
The reason it's so hot is that it is 20 times closer to its star than Mercury is to our sun.

Sorry my job isn't anywhere near as interesting or exciting as yours. Mine falls somewhere between boring and mindnumbing. One of my goals for the year is to move on to something better.

I work in home financing. Typically I'm in a HUGE warehouse with hundreds of thousands of files and I use big equipment to move throughout all the shelves and keep it all organized. I love that part. Manual/physical labor is definitely my cup-o-tea. However, at the moment, the company has me on a side project and I just sit here and stare at this computer and write down numbers every now and then. I've been introduced to entirely new levels of boredom. It's painfully, miserably boring. Almost not worth the pay.

Not bad at all. I'm a guitar manager for a Guitar Center and I love it. It feels good to walk into work and be surrounded by guitars. Hopefully I will enjoy teaching just as much!

I like the work.
Not too keen on my boss and his boss.
So, I'm ok when they let me actually do the job, but get unhappy when they start trying to get involved with the activities.
I have a system and a set of contacts I use to get things done. They upset that.

Something I've wanted to ask you...
I know you have to be professional at work. And I'm sure it has it's frustrations, like any job. But after work, in a thoughtful moment, ever just sit there and giggle like a crazy kid in awe and slight disbelief that you get to do what you do?
I know I would. You rock.

Not as much as I did when I first started here 12 years ago. Which is odd, because only recently I started doing the fun stuff like producing photo/video shoots and party coverage. So you think I'd be even more giddy nowadays.
But yeah, I've had worse jobs.

I'm a Lab Tech doing mostly cancer research and I like my job, just wish it was easier to find a stable biotech company to work for without moving to the states.

I love my job.
I work in science. I have one foot in research and the other in diagnostics so I get to be creative and clever while at the same time I get to help people through the docs that we serve.
Although I must say, Monday was one of the most profoundly hard days I have had in a long time and thankfully, even with a really large children's hospital attached to our institution, the really hard days are few and far between.
But Monday, we had to see an infant who has a genetic skin blistering disease and then do a biopsy to determine the type of her disease. But on the bright side, the parents are doing a terrific job of keeping their baby healthy because we did not see any new blisters and the affected areas were localized and small. But even still, after getting run through that wringer I had to go home and hold my own baby girl for an extra long time as she fell asleep that night.
Yes, I love my job.
Now I have to get back and take something apart.

Mine was pretty rough, but I just quit. I'll have to find something that pays decent money sooner or later, but right now I'm kind of hoping I can take some time to be FUNemployed! Thankfully there's lots of work in my field. I may not get the chance before someone snatches me up for a project.

I'm a speech-language pathologist. When people used to say, "Isn't it great to have a job helping people; making a difference in their lives?" I just thought, "Sure. But I'd rather be playing music."
I have spent nearly an entire career thinking I should be doing something else. Nevertheless, I kept getting better doing what I do in a field that remains fascinating to me. And I do appreciate the opportunity to contribute to someone's care.
Now that I have a family and a child, I confess I kind of prefer having Friday and Saturday nights - not to mention holidays - free to spend with my family.

I teach high school English.
I generally love being in the classroom and the kids (granted, I teach AP and Honors, so I don't have to deal with a lot of the crap other teachers do).
I hate everything else about the job.

I like my job. I spend all day alone in a large windowless telco central office. I wire and provision all different kinds of circuits, troubleshoot them when they don't work, and work with technicians in the field and in other offices. My boss is a good guy and knows I do a good job so he doesn't have to manage me. Pay's good and benefits rock.
Everything will be fine as long as I don't get laid off...

Like my job, but I don't love it
I do love where I live, especially this time of year ..... sunny and warm outside today ... in January!!
so I put up with it and hope to put up with it for a few more years.
