I don't know the first thing about the workings of tube amps, and I need some basic info. I just got a '66 Blackface Princeton that contains mismatched brands of 6v6 tubes.

I'm assuming that this means I should swap one or both out, so that the two tubes are matched, correct?

I read somewhere that Princetons need to be re-biased when changing power tubes, and that this is particularly difficult because there is not bias adjustment mechanism in a Princeton. True? (Is this true for Gibson Falcon GA-19RVT amps also?)

Although I am all for learning how to do this stuff eventually, this is probably not a good candidate for my first amp project. Does anyone know of a tech in the Oakland/San Francisco area who can do this?

Thanks in advance.

Princeton's do not have a bias adjust pot, so to make the adjustment a resistor must be changed.

A very good tech in the No Cal area is Ron Veil in Modesto.

That or you can just install adjustable bias. Pretty simply to craft a replacement bias board that includes a trimmer.
