Hi Guys. I just picked up the VOX NT15H Night Train and am looking for opinions on the best cabinet (and speaker choice) for it. I mostly play classic (and some pop) rock with a Les Paul Standard (both rhythm and lead). I will most often use the 7.5 watt Triode mode channel as I am mostly a studio player and can't play too loud. I will occasionally use the 15 watt Pentode mode though so consider that in your cabinet and speaker recommendation. :) I will mostly use the crunch and Thick setting to boost the gain as that's the tone I like. I'll sometimes use the clean. Any thoughts/recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I a/b'd the Night Train with the Standard 1x12 cab (G12M) and my Morgan 1x12 (celestion gold) and liked the Morgan/gold way better...
But You can't go wrong with a Greenback/Blue/Gold with that amp.

What about the special cab Vox made for the NT? 15" greenback should be a good match in a closed back cab.

The amp came out first, and we sold a lot by plugging them into anything we had. Then the Vox cab came in, and the boss insisted we demo them together. Night Train sales stopped. "Just the facts, Ma'am."
I do think a Greenback is a good speaker for the Night Train, and if you really want the best, I'd try a Scumback M75 in a Forte 3D 112.

With most things Vox, I'd suggest a Celestion Blue, a Weber Blue Dog or a Weber Silver Bell.

A local player runs his through a Princeton Reverb amp.
Seemed odd, but the sound is amazing.

Thanks. What do you think about an Avatar cab with the Celestion Blue? What do you recommend for the wattage? 25W or 30W? I'm thinking of going just a 1x10 or 1x12. Thoughts?

The Blue only comes in a 15W rating, the Gold 50W.

Thanks, I actually meant to say the Celestion Greenback. I've also heard from some others that the Greenback is best for a classic rock tone; which is more what I'm looking for. :)

I've got an Avatar G112 Vintage with a Gold in it, and it sounds fantastic with the Night Train. Actually it sounds damn good with just about anything I plug into it, but it's a definite winner with the Vox.

Thanks guys for all of your great feedback so far. I found a great deal on a used Avatar 1x12 Cabinet with a 25 watt 12" Greenback in it so I"m going for it. I can always change out the speaker later if I'm disappointed. :)

I have an oval back avatar 2x12 cab loaded with a Weber Blue and Weber Silver. Love the big warm sound. Ive played mine through a 1x12 with a Greenback you'll like that too.

There's no "best" cab & speaker. It's what the player thinks sounds best.
For me, I like the Night Train (and my Orange Dual Terror and my Ceriatone 5x3) going into a 2x10 with Jensen Mod 10-70s.
