Like the title says... I don't have much to spend and don't really need pro quality. This is for songwriting and file creating. I record pro level stuff with a friend.

It needs to work with Logic 9 and I have an Macbook Pro.

I was looking at the MobilePre from m-Audio

or the Line 6 UX2 or ever just the UX cuz this is just for guitar...

If you're not looking for pro quality, then the UX2 might be a good choice simply because of the effects that the software will give you access to, assuming it works the same on the Mac as it does on a PC. I've had one and got rid of it because I wanted more XLR inputs. Just like one of the modeling amps, it takes tweaking to find good sounds, but it does give you easy access to a lot of tools at headphone levels.

I recently picked up an M-Audio FireWire 410 and really like it for the money. It has two XLR inputs, two headphone jacks, and has yet to give me any pops, clicks, or any other oddities I've experienced with lower end interfaces.

GuitarPort...seriously, been using mine alot with PT and a MacBook Pro. Small footprint & it works great. Got mine at $62 on clearance at GC

As someone who owns the UX1, I suggest getting one with two XLR jacks (even better, combo XLR/TS) w/ preamps and phantom power. If you really want podfarm, the UX2 would serve you just fine, but there are really better hardware options out there.

Do a little research. There's alot of cool stuff out there. Good luck!

I use this TC Electronic Desktop Konnekt 6 with my Mac Pro, that I got in August. Just need a FW 400 to 800 cable(My 13" only has FW 800 Port) the unit is FW 400. Works great has the same pre's as the high end TC units, just 1. I cant think of any thing that I don't like about it. Its built well, sounds great and its on Sale. $189, with cables you should be about at $200.

Has 2 1/4 instrument inputs
1 Mic input
2 1/4 outputs + 1/4 Headphones out

Check out the new Xport we just released. Could be just what you're looking for and well within budget.

I'm pretty sure it does...never have done it but it's pretty standard. Look, I know there's alot of way more deluxe stuff out there than this...but it's cheap & it works. It's basically POD sounds.
