Some twit eBay seller is selling a boutique Super Reverb amp and states the linked MP3 file is him playing his SRV Strat through the amp. It's actually Jeff Healey's "Hideaway" from his first album!
What an idiot!

What's a "face-splitter" do in an AB763 circuit? :roll My '66 BFSR doesn't have one. You can get a nice, clean real BFSR for around $1500 these days and it will hold it's value...or get a drip edge for a lot less and blackface it. Keep looking and get a good one. :aok
BTW: I like MM trannies, but huge part of the tone are those old trannies, especially the OT, and the blue molded caps. Frankly, I wouldn't even pay $500 for a cloned head version with a SS rectifier and so-called Diaz mods. This seller is obviously a clown...:crazy

Yeah he has the SRV strat listed as well. I reported him to eBay and BMI for copyright infringement. I played with Jeff a couple of times he was a hell of nice guy and a phenomenal guitarist.

Where did you play with him? Any clips? It would be cool to hear you in action with Jeff!

Here's the SRV strat he has listed and no doubt the clip he said was made using the guitar he has listed and the amp that he had listed is Jeff Healy's Hideaway.. What a jerk..

Yup! My brother just scored a drip edge SFSR for $425 out the door. He needs to bring it to Brother Trap's Workbench for a tune-up! If it has the CBS era face splitter, I'll carefully remove it! (Saving it for collector value, of course)

They post stuff on the INTERNET and act like they are back home in BFE talking to their friends who wouldn't know Jeff Healey from a Helium Balloon:Devil
Anybody who plays that clip knows that's Jeff Healey...What a lowlife!..Boys that's why I don't buy ANYTHING on EBAY...If I get a guitar or anything guitar related I buy it here!:aok

There are idiots everywhere including here. eBay is a company that has nothing to do with the products offered, just like TGP has nothing to do with whether random douchebag member X is selling item Y or Z.
Blaming eBay for everything that happens there is as stupid as blaming TGP for every douchy member you've encountered here.
Double-standards notwithstanding, yes, it was a pretty lowlife move.

It says that it's his strat being played through the amp.......doesn't say that he's playing it.

I downloaded "his" version and played it synced simultaneously with Healeys version as found on YouTube - phrasing, timing, panning, mix, 100% identical beginning to end.
I asked a similar question, albeit a little more bluntly, and got this gem: http://img.thegearpage.net/board/images/icons/icon10.gif
"Hey thanks for the note, but while you may be a fan of Jeff Healy, you are not a player. Hideaway is one easy song to cover, lead and all. My band and I do it all the time. Yes, that is us and no it is not JH, but thanks for the compliments. Let me know where you are at and next time we are around I will give you tickets to our show."

I downloaded the version at the link and synched it to various others, including the one on youtube, and it is not exactly the same. Could it be that this dude and his band pulled it off and played it righteously close? Just wondering. I have been following this forum over time. Always amazes me how people jump to deny that there are talented players in this world who are not famous. Not meaning to start a s**t storm here, I'm just saying.

It really was the same exact track. The link is removed out of the listing anyways.

1) Welcome to TGP! Great first post!
2) The eBay auction links to this audio track, no doubt about it.

3) I've never jumped to deny anyone's talent, famous or not.

Anyway too late to be messing with this I am tired. Right or wrong the deed is done and gone for the most part. I would like free tickets to a show though.

Here's the message I got from the guy:
Hey I appreciate your concern, covering his song is not a crime. They say that imitaiton is the best form of flattery and that is all our cover was, was imitation. Obviously pretty good. Did you bid on the amp?

My ears are so good that I could never mistake somebody's vibrato, touch, and feeling for a copy of it. Sorry, but this is Jeff Healey, one of my guitar heroes and not some random copycat.
Plus, nobody can sound like Jeff. :)
That guy's a liar so I'd never bid on any of his auctions... which is ironic considering the thread that appeared here last week asking people if they would if the seller is caught lying.

Came across this thread through a search on Google for Super Reverb. I clicked on the link out of curiosity and when I read some of the posts, decided to put my new Bias Peak Pro 6 software to use. My software is pretty good and I came to my own conclusion. Hey, I learned some stuff and not all technically related to audio clips. Some about the nature of those that post here, as evidenced by the question..., "Am I him?" Why can't I just be a guy with a passing interest? But really, in the scope of things who cares? The guy did bad, he'll go to hell. Not up to me to judge him or you or anyone.
