Thinking about purchasing DAW and need advice

I've been eyeing the 003 Factory DAW with work surface for a while now and was wondering if there is still a problem with/between windows 7 and PT 8. Also I don't have firewire on my computer but have seen usb to firwire converters - do these work? Any other advice on the 003 factory would be appreciated!

Dont have any experience with that unit but check if the pre's can be bypassed in case you ever upgrade or want to use better pre-amps.

I wouldn't trust USB to Firewire converters - if you don't have firewire on your computer, just add it via a PCI card like this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16815124003

Not feasible Firewire and USB are completely different buses. Buy a Firewire Card and the required Cable.


Also do a search of firewire chipsets. TI seem to have a good track record.
