framus dragon. i prefer these to the cobra's. they still have plenty of gain, but they sound a lot more open and not so compressed as the cobra. they sound REALLY killer. check one out dude.

thing is you just named off some classic marshall and boogie tones,maybe buy those 2 amps??? dunno..

Just my opinion here, I don't think you need to spend 3K to get the VH-1/II tone, seems like plenty of amps (Splawn for example) do that, and a Zakk Wylde Marshall probably sounds more like Zakk Wylde than anything else.

A Diezel Herbert would be an option, but this is a Better Option :D

Cornford MKII and the Cornford Ritchie Kotzen models are both single channel, tone monsters that'll take you from hiwatt-vox clean, to british crunch all the way up to 80's metal (especially the Kotzen model). Cornford's apparently have very good effects loops as well.

Yeah, sounds like you are looking for the OD100.

Have you tried a Mesa Stiletto? There were some sound clips of one using all the factory suggested settings and one of those clips absolutely nailed early VH. I've read the amp has less than a terrific clean, isn't built to take you into the nu-metal sounds you would expect from the recto's but it does a wide range of early Marshall sounds up through the 80s.

I haven't played around with one enough to have an opinion. 50 or 100 watts is just too loud for me. But I know those sound clips were terrific and my guitar teacher who is perpetually stuck in 1988 and swears Dokken will rise again swears by his.

+1 The Leadman sounds like nothing else out there and is absolutely amazing. If you can get to Ultrasound in NYC you have to try one. You won't be disappointed.

I had a Leadman and it was a fun amp, but it is pretty limited. Single channel, no added features at all really. Some cool lead tones, but it would have been very hard for me to use in a live setting. If cleans or the ability to change tones quickly mean anything at all, this would be a tough one I would think. That being said, it is a cool amp.

Peters Dual Channel. The Lead Overdrive pre-amp does the VH1/VHII thing very well, as well as the '80's metal thing. The Modern High Gain pre-amp covers the heavier stuff such as Zakk Wylde/Ozzy and beyond.

Cornford MK50 head will do just what you want, seismic gain levels on it and 100% handbuilt PTP .

The Cornford Hellcat is 35 watts 2 channel affair, sweetest cleans married to crunchmonster drive , for bigger gigs you gotta mic thru PA obviously.Again 100% handbuilt PTP.
