Hi,
I recently received a Strymon El Cap and I've quickly noticed a drop of volume when the effect is engaged. There's a change in tone too compare to when it's bypass there's a lost in trebles, I hear a darker tone.
What I actually do is putting it in a looper with a Dr.Scientist Cleaness boost that is always on to compensate.
Anyone here had experiment this too, drop of volume + lost in trebles?

one of the secondary controls gives a volume boost if you need it
surely you knew this before spending $300 right?
The secondary function of the mix knob gives a +/- 3 dB boost/cut (hold the Bypass and Tap switches down and turn the mix knob at the same time). Perhaps yours got changed, by mistake. This is covered in the manual, which is available online.
As far as sounding darker...I am not clear what you mean...are you saying it sounds darker when engaged, or not? Regardless, my basic tone sounds the same when engaged.

your dry signal will sound the exact same the repeats is whats causing you to hears a darker tone. Its an all analog dry signal path to my understanding

Ahh! I didn't know about these secondary controls! Great thing to here, I didn't receive it with an owner manual.

I was saying it sounds darker when engaged but with the mix control all the way down. I guess the volume drop gave an impression of darker tone. I'll try this secondary functions and I'll see.
Thanks folks!
You may also want to fiddle with the other secondary controls. For example, I ended up putting the "tape crinkle" down much lower than it came from the factory, and set the "tape bias" for a really clean repeat sound...and, it even has reverb if you want it!

Ok good! Really much better now. AT unity gain and at dry setting both engaged and bypass are very similar on tone! Doesn't even need that cleaness!:aok
I'll find a manual on the net and try all other 2condary controls!

You've got to give to to Strymon, they have some pretty sweet secondary features on their pedals.
