Couple of questions on these. There are 2 models, 1 with a triangular mounting plate (http://www.amazon.com/Hercules-Stands-Wallmount-Guitar-GSP39WB/dp/B000EEJGRK/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1296415615&sr=8-4) (3 screws in a triangle) and one with a wooden mounting plate http://www.amazon.com/Hercules-GSP38WB-Guitar-Hanger-Wood/dp/B0009K9MUA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1296415615&sr=8-3(2 screws vertically). I will be using them in a steel stud apartment building, so mounting to wooden wall studs is not an option. I will use upgraded hollow wall anchors.

which of the 2 models would be better in this scenario?

any specific hollow wall anchors work best? I have used toggle bolts in the past for things like small flat panel tv's, but the bolt size is likely too big.

thanks!

They are really the same save appearance. I use the wood ones - anchored into wall studs - and they work well.

I just went thru same thing - remodelled my basement (DIY mancave style) and bought a bunch of hercules wall mounts. due to stud spacing, i could not hit a stud.. i threw out the crappy included anchors and screws, and instead used special drywall anchors i bought at lowes (good for 160lbs per hercules hanger)

here's a pic:

I have never hung a LP using one. Does it mess with the finish on those at all?
