So I'm thumbing through the latest issue of Guitar Player and I get to the gear review section and what do I see? A Soloway Swan LN6
The Swan has made the big time. :dude
I thought it was a great and accurate review. I like the way the reviewer describes the guitar:
"The semi-hollow design is undoubtedly contributing something to the acoustic volume, but this is more of a feel thing than a sound thing."
and
"The lows on this guitar are fat and clear, and it's a sound I couldn't emulate by siimply EQing and standard-length humbucker guitar to prodcue a darker tone."
Both, very accurate statements.
Congratulations are in order to Jim, the fine person that he is and the fine guitars that he makes.
LeonD
P.S. Does this mean that we shouldn't post about Soloway guitars in the Small Company Luthiers section anymore? :D

That is great!
I haven't seen the review yet (is it on newsstands already?).
But as I said in an email to Jim recently, this is going to be the Year of the Swan! :dude
Well deserved. At least, as long as it doesn't delay my guitar ;)

It's out already?????????? I don't get mine for two weeks. You must be the first person in the country to get theirs Leon (which seems appropriate given your early faith).
I've known for a while that this was coming, but honestly, I was just too nervous to talk about it here. They sent me an early draft of the review to check for errors. I was really pleased with the entire approach to the review, but I guess I won't see the finished article until it hits the news stand. You can bet that I'm not going to wait until my subscription copy arrives though.
Between the review, the response at the Long Island show and few of the other things that are going on, this has become an incredibly exciting time for us. It really is about watching dreams become reality.
BTW, the guitar in the review is one of the pair that Cliff bought at the show. THere's a part of me that wanted to keep it and frame it. :D

Yes, it's awesome to see guys like Jim Soloway and Ryan
Gadow get GP reviews, and such positive ones about their
axes! It's nice to have some of our finest luthiers getting some
well-deserved recognition!

Congratulations Jim! I'll have to actually buy that issue.
So, have the orders started pouring in yet?

Thanks all. It's a really exciting deal for me. I've been reading GP for over 30 years, so having them do a review is pretty special to me.
And Shad, the show went great, much better than I had hoped for. I talked to Ben Fargen earlier today and he and I are probably going to do a few more shows together later in the year. We're looking at the Bay Area, Philadelphia and the big show in Arlington, Tx.

When are the shows planned? I'll make sure to be there when you're in the Bay Area.

I considered that, but after all the recent sales, I don't think we'll have enough guitars ready on time for that. I was thinking of the November show.
And Peter, the Bay area show is July 30 & 31 at the Marin Civic Center in San Rafael. Even that's a bit of a stretch. I'm going to sit down next week and figure out the prodution schedule for the next couple months and see if we'll have anything to show.

Since mine will be finished by then (right?), maybe you can borrow it for the show :)

Yours should be done by then but hopefully once it's in your hands, you're not going to want it to go anywhere. ;)

I hope so too!
But I don't like how you used the word "should".
I was looking for something like "Yours will be done..." ;)

Yeah, maybe I stretch your limits a little, but you're the uy for the job. What can I say? :)
So is the neck ready yet, so we can discuss the inlay situation? ;)
