hey everyone...a little stumped...working on a Japanese Fender Jag. Customer smashed the rhythm slider switch (top control) which I replaced. It works perfectly. Problem is, while the neck pickup works in that position, when I switch it down to activate the bottom control panel with 3 sliders, the neck pickup will not come on.
I tried replacing that switch with the same one I used for the top one, still no good. I'm wondering if that is a different switch (on/off as opposed to on/on for the top panel?)
Please direct me to the switch if you think thats what it is. Everything else looks to be wired up according to Fender's wiring diagram
thanks!

Are you using a diagram like this (http://support.fender.com/diagrams/other/0100900A/SD0100900APg2.pdf)? Perhaps one or more mini pots are also damaged?

yes thanks...using that exact diagram. Mini pots are working on the neck pickup.

I just got a used 90's MIJ Jag and had to also replace the rythym switch as well. Honestly, MIJ wiring sucks, it has really thin wires with a lot of it going around corners and such, and I noticed so spots where the plastic coating had broken, exposing the wires. I just re-wired the whole thing with cloth wire because I didn't want to mess around with crappy wire. While that's may not be an option for you, I would suggest checking every wire everywhere. The Jag is a pretty complicated guitar for wiring. When you engage the rythym switch, it simultaneously disengages the bridge pickup, its volume and tone control and the neck pickup going to that the volume and tone control. So, there are a lot of potential areas to get messed up. It only took me an hour to rewire the whole guitar with cloth wire, so if that's an option for the customer, I would suggest doing that.
Otherwise test different points with a multimeter.

Btw, make sure all switches are DPDT on, on. Test with a multimeter to make sure signal is passing in every position.
