I've been thinking of getting a rosewood strat and wanted something like a Suhr Classic but someone suggested trying a Suhr Pro version. Do you folks like these? Are they the same as the Classic version less custom options? Basically if I like the appointments is there any difference between this and the custom order version?

I have the Pro M1, but yes, it's just like the Custom except for limitations of choices.

Highly recommended.

I have owned a couple of the early Pro Series models (now called the S1 and S2). They are built to the same high standards using the same components as the custom guitars. There are simply fewer options available in terms of specs. I agree that they are highly recommendable.

The Suhr Pro Series guitars are great instruments.

I am very close to pulling the trigger on a Pro series Tele. Super impressed with everything about the guitar and the lack of custom options kind of simplifies things for me. Instead of getting into 26 different neck profiles and umpteen different pickup combos you can simply play the guitar and decide if you like it or not.

Indoor Storm just received a really nice Pro series Strat-

My next guitar will be a Pro.... I will not buy online. To many disappointments to buy that way again.
It has to be in my hands when I pass the cash...... I suggest anyone buying a guitar do the same unless you have no choice or its an older guitar, ect....

I absolutely love my Suhr Pro. I've got a 2007 Pro Series S-1 with that same 60s C Vintage Standard. Nice medium C neck that's so comfortable. The guitar is a sleek 7.5 pounds, well-built, and is a fantastic player.

Nice guitars as long as you get along with the neck shape.

Agreed, which is why I mentioned having the 60s C Vintage Standard neck on mine. The Even C Slim that comes standard on most Pro Series 1 models is just too skinny for a lot of guys.

Yeah, fantastic guitars all the way. If the neck was fatter I'd still have mine; a pro series with the Suhr 50's roundback would be the blitz!

so are they just mass produced to be identical or are they fundamentally different than the regular versions?

I don't believe that they are built any differently than a guitar ordered from scratch-they come from the same factory. The ones I have seen and played didn't appear to be "lesser" in any way.

They do ship with a gig bag instead of a case which saves them a little bit of money.

The pros have the slightly scaled down body
The classic Suhr has the Strat correct one

The pros have the universal route
The classic does not

The classic has your choice of neck thickness
The pro does not

The pro comes with the gotoh 510 2 post
The classic can come with whatever u want

They have the same build quality and woods

The Suhr Pros sound modern and BRIGHT! Articulate, clear and BRIGHT!

Impossibly good build quality and customer service.

I wouldn't buy one for classic Fender tones, but if you're looking for something else, you may find that a Pro is the perfect guitar for you. :)

'Brightness' is definitely a product of the woods used, among other things. I can make my Pro S-1 (alder body, rosewood board) sound bright and spanky, but overall, it sounds very warm and balanced to my ears. I A/B'd it once with an Pro Series S-3 (basswood body and maple cap) and the S-3 had a much brighter, more modern tone. Regardless of which Pro you have, these guitars all sound incredible and have the real solid feel of a quality instrument.

Bright and modern is how I would define all of the Pros I've played.

They're brilliant instruments indeed.

I have a few Suhrs, and the Pro series Modern is my # 1. Alder Body, and Pao Ferro Board. Out of 20 + guitars I currently own, it is the one I grab most. Don't think for a minute these are inferior. Suhr makes one of the best guitars out there, and mine came with a Hardshell case. Thanks Make N Music....

Pro or Classic S they are both Suhr guitars.
And Suhr means professional, no compromise quality.
Like PRS of Fender guitars.
Of course Classic S is like custom version where details can be done to particular needs of the owner. Some exceptional Classics could be find second-hand and don't worry, they are all equally great guitars. No risks on inconsistencies like with Fender or Gibson.
Buying suhr means buying top notch quality.
Pro series is Suhr attempt to bring this quality to wider audience at lower price point.
I hope Suhr will not lower their quality standards with increase of sales, but for the time being the best Strats and Teles are not buit by Fender, but by Suhr.

Depends on which Pro you're talking about - the Pro C1/C2 is the Classic shape but I think they are routed for a bridge humbucker (HSS) instead of being custom routed for the pickup configuration ordered.

The C1 and C2 are full sized full thickness Classic bodies
They are routed for each pickup configuration as ordered. No universal routes
The down sized Pro series are routed to accept HSH or SSS
Pickguards for either of these should be ordered from us for a proper fit.

I owned an S1 and thought it was very well built. It was set up great and played nicely. I needed a T style so I traded it, but never had any complaints. It had SS frets which some people prefer and some don't.

They are cool guitars. I've owned a couple S3's. One was much better than the other. As with any other guitar, try before you buy, if you can.
