Everything is relative but a nice low wind set of Imperials is what I use for a relativey bright sound.

I've found 57 classics to be fairly bright. If you want vintage bright you could always get some TV Jones Gretsch style pickups. They are available in standard humbucker form factors.

I read a thread not too long ago where a guy was looking for a brighter humbucker for the neck of a tele and PRS pickups were recommended, Duncans were not. ymmv.
DiMarzio Super II's and DiMarzio EJ's.
Both sides of the spectrum.
Super II's are bright with high output, EJ's are bright with low output.

I recommend the Mojotone Clone Series PAF set. Freakin' great.

The PAF clones were originally designed for the PAF purist in mind. These are very bright and warm with less pick attack. The upper frequency range has exceptional bloom and lots of airy tone. We carefully selected the perfect blend of period correct materials such as our low charged Alnico magnets, plain enamel wire, vintage spec screws, vintage braided single conductor wire, and vintage long legged baseplates to replicate a true PAF pickup that sounds and looks like the very best examples from the past. All pickups are lightly wax potted to eliminate annoying feedback.
Neck - 7.2K
Bridge - 8.1K

I've had good luck with the GFS Retrotrons. I've used the Nashville's, Memphis and Dream 180's. Also like the PRS Starla pickups, and Schaller Golden 50's.

Burstbucker Pros.
I like my Di Marzio PAF 36th Anniversary set,
nice and bright but still has the muscle and tone.
Low output pick ups are the key here, anything 10K plus
will be to hot to give you a decent clean sound from my experience.

all those and most other HBs with a 1meg volume pot. Try putting in a 1meg pot with your current pups, I wouldn't be surprised if it solved your problems completely.
SD Jazz always seems bright to me.

Here's another vote for TV Jones. Obviously, they are going for a particular, Gretsch sound. But they have a nice, bright top end, even when really overdriven.

Really? What guitar do you have them in. I have '57/'57+ in my Les Paul, and am going to soon ditch them in favor of something brighter. Bit too dark for my tastes in that guitar.

Have you tried the low winds in a Les Paul. I typically see them in a 335 style guitar but am curious about how they would work in a Les Paul.
I like my Di Marzio PAF 36th Anniversary set,
nice and bright but still has the muscle and tone.Interesting. I just pulled a 36th out of the neck position of a new build and put in a DP211 Eric Johnson, the EJ smoked the 36th for sweet chimy cleans.
I like the 36th, just the wrong guitar in this case, but the EJ was worlds sweeter and brighter, no comparison, and a perfect fit-keeper in this guitar now. What a beautiful sounding pickup, I love it.
The EJ may be my favorite new neck pickup now, it actually reminds me of my neck position Lollar Mini-Humbuckers. :bow:bow
