I've got a 2X12 cab that I'd like to use as a stereo cab BUT would like to keep the option of running it as a standard 2X12 mono cab. Can I wire it this way if I just use 2 jack plates on the back of the cab? Wire one plate with a single input to both speakers in parrallel and wire another 2 jack plate in a stereo (one jack to one speaker) set up?

I think the answer is yes, I just want a second opinion... Thanks!

You only need two jacks - one of them needs to be a double-switched (hot and ground) type like the ones Marshall use. The other can be any type.

Connect the 'any type' jack to Speaker A. Connect the plug connections of the switched jack to Speaker B, and the switched connections to the first jack.

Then the 'any type' jack is the mono input as well as being the Speaker A input, and the switched one is the Speaker B input. Remember that the cab impedance is half that of the speakers in mono, since they're in parallel.

(If you're only going to run the two halves from a stereo amp, not two separate amps, you can get away with a single-switched jack, without switching the ground connection.)

Do you have a vendor recommendation to get one of those jacks?

Thanks for the info!
