Anyone know the differences between the Mini Pre-Amp and the Mini Buffer?

I talked to Dan about this a few months back.
I told him that I used a Dyna-Comp with the compression at the lowest and volume slight above unity for a little spank and shine--and he said the Mini-Pre would be slightly more "sparkly" than that.
I opted for the Mini-Buffer prior to my VPJr.
If you're lacking some noticeable spank&shine from your rig, the Mini-Pre might be the way to go..

Thanks for the reply. Does that mean the Mini-Pre adds some compression?
Or is the Mini-Pre more similar to the booster?
Sorry if these questions sound silly, I'm just trying to figure out the benefits of each pedal.

* Also I tried searching and didn't come up with much. So if this has been covered before, I would much appreciate a link.

Can't speak to the mini-pre, but the mini-buffer I have on my board is fantastic.

The mini-pre adds like 3db to your signal and whenever you boost your signal to your preamp, sustain is increased. With 3db you'll get a slight increase along the lines of a compressor (which was designed to increase sustain) without squishing your signal.
