View Full Version : Large fire/gun safe for storing guitars?
I've been thinking about this for a while. I've seen some decent used deals on big safes... and I could fit my three best guitars into one...in gig bags fairly easily along with other paperwork and such that need safe keeping.
My last home was broken into a few years back and I did have three very nice guitars stolen and never recovered...
Gibson marketed a safe some years back, and of course they were quite expensive.
I'm sure any safe company makes an interior to meet the need.

I've got a pretty large Browning with a very good fire rating (probably made by Cannon) and although I don't keep guitars in it, the peace of mind it bring regarding firearms, cash, and important documents is well worth the price.
I paid about $2500 for mine which is right in the middle, you can get by for less and you can certainly pay much (much) more.
Buddy of mine has one and they weigh a ton!Hope you find a good spot and don't have to move it
Yes... they are very heavy.... and I do have a good spot for it...

I've been using a Liberty safe for about 10 yrs. I have 7 electrics in it, 5 of the seven in gig bags, the other 2 are naked and fit in between.
Its fire rated to 30 minutes, which means it will keep the internal temp below 405-410 degrees for 30 minutes. That is the temp that paper chars at.
great peace of mind, well worth the $$ I spent.
WHat size is it Clarkram?

Costco has some great fireproof, digital entry gun safes for around $600 - $700. Take the shelves and organizers out and you can fit 5 or so guitar cases in it.
Yes..good stuff.. would certainly take out the shelves.

A gun safe works great but depending on your safe and the amount of guitars you cram in there I recommend keeping your guitars in white cotten bags to protect them from scratching. My wife made me the bags from some old sheets.
