I recently went to the Musicians Friend web site, in search of a good, but cheap condenser mic for recording...DDUUHHH
Anyhoo..I searched condenser mic by customer rating and the$39.99 Nady SPC 25 came up 3rd with 5 stars, right under the Sputnik ($799.00) and the Dragon Fly ($799.00) .
I know price isn't everything, but dang!! is it that good??
Obviously the owners had nothing but good things to say about it..
Anyone here every heard of, or used one of these mics?????
Just curious...of course I ordered 2 of em' already. Cant wait to see what all the hype is about...
I really dont get exactly how the star system works..there others with five stars, are these tied for first?????

I received my (3) SPC 25 mics and tried them out with my BOSS BR 600
Classic vibe Tele and Bugera v22....
not bad at all, they are hot, detailed, and the feedback seems to be minimum.
I pd. 39.95 ea. the the have this march mic sale and they are now 29.99.
The refunded me the difference.
These are easier to set up, no more phantom power and the need to use XLR.
They sound really tight and crisp, the the lows come through as they were much more expensive mics.
Once in a while I find cheap stuff to be just as good, and rarly better than more expensive gear.(depending on what your opinion of a good sounding mic is without reguard to brand or price)
This is rare, and you may not agree after you try, but I did my homework, and it paid off....29.99.......come on.........
And I am not comparing these to the $600.00+ mics, those are in a different class all together.

Er, if you're not using XLR for your mic, what are you using?

it uses a regular AA battery in the body capsule and lasts a very looong time.
Well, ok, you got me, what I meant was- I do use an XLR female on the mic end, but the other end can now just be 1/4 inch since the battery is powering up the mic.
It's a high sensitive cardioid mic, but when you unscrew the outer windscreen, there is another smaller one, now it picks up more sound all around.
Well here, check it out.

Shows you nothing but how meaningless the star rating system of the site in question is.
I think you may be reading too much into it, like "the best mic for the money after a dragonfly is this NADY".
Which it clearly is not.

Not sure why you would do this. Phantom power is free and constant, while batteries cost money and die. You still want to use XLR anyway to maintain a balanced, mic-level signal going into the mixer.

I already have AA rechargables, and I have a 48v box I have to plug in and run the mic in and out of.
If I need a really open sounding mic, I have an AKG perception 220.
My point was that it is ironic that....ohh never mind....
