I just got an Ibanez RG3570 Prestige guitar yesterday. I havn't had a Floyd type trem in forever, but my Strat is set up to float, and I like it. Any tips on using/maintaining/setting up this type of trem? Thanks, y'all!

Check out this page at Ibanez Rules:

Lot's of setup tips. I used it to get a nice setup on a used RG-550 I picked up a couple of years ago.

Also, checkout Jemsize. It's the home for all things Ibanez:

Thanks, Fuzz! I've looked at that site before, never read through the tips.

Did it come with the Prestige manual? It should have just about everything you need in there with regards to set up specs and methods.

Only annoying part is that it's for ALL of the prestige models, so you have to read only the parts pertaining to your particular guitar.

With the edge zero there is a nice little roller in the back that is used to change string tension. You basically want the trem level and the block resting on the bar in the back, which is held in place by opposing springs.

Hey, T-Bone - yeah, I've got the manual. I'll be reading it tonight. The trem is an interesting piece of work! I do wish it wasn't so stiff, but I imagine it will loosen a little over time as the springs get used. This is my first foray into Super-Strat territory, and it's a little intimidating. My Tele, Strat, SG and Tokai ES335 are a lot easier to deal with, for sure! But, I'll get the hang of it.

You beat me to it, but I will add that both are excellent resources for floating trem guitars particularly Ibanez Rules.

It is basically an overgrown trem setter. It is very good for helping the guitar get back to the flat position, but at the same time it means you need to exert more effort to break the equilibrium, while with a full-floating system it is instantaneous.

you can take out the zero system though, which the manual details how to do.

Reading that now - thanks! Still figuring this contraption out...
