This is a kick azz movie with a killer soundtrack!
I had forgotten how good it is.
Too bad the kid who played "C" is doing 10 years in prison for real.

Great movie. Robert DeNero's character was one they don't often delve into as deeply as they did in this.

Outstanding film!!!
I really love the part where Chaz P's character tells the kid how to pick up his date. Lock both doors. Unlock and open her door, let her get in and then close her door. Go around the back of the car and look. If she unlocks your door, keep her. If she doesn't unlock you door, she's a selfish bitch and f**k her!
After seeing that, I always did exactly that and it turns out the one's that didn't unlock my door were selfish bitches!

I still think the scene where the Italian guys beat the snot out of the biker gang is one of the funnier classic scenes in any movie.

The movie's based on a one man show where Chazz plays all the characters. Saw him do it on Broadway. Awesome.

I did the same thing for many years and damn if it isn't true. The selfish ones never reached over to unlock my door!

Yeah, it's a satisfying scene. But in real life, the bikers would've gone down to the East Village, told the Hells Angels, and that bar would have been torched, blown up, disappeared.

doesnt quite work that way. old school Italians have more pull in places like New York than Hells angels. Hells angels dont "help" other no name gangs. they kill them.

Yes, great movie, but the fact that Calogero (Lillo Brancato) is a cop killer in real life kind of ruins the movie now a little bit.

Couldn't make it through... twice. Cookie-cutter mobster stuff and a very predictable and lazy DeNiro doing his typical shtick.
After seeing Goodfellas & Casino, watching A Bronx Tale is like going from 5-star restaurant fare to Kibbles & Bits.
Note : I have an *extremely* hard time with kids as actors. They're either whiny/crying brats or they're terrible at acting! Sole exception for me is The Sixth Sense.

I'll preface this by saying that I respect your opinion but, if you want to see a stellar performance by a kid, check out "The Champ" with Jon Voight and Rick (Ricky at the time) Schroder. In this film, that kid out-acts 99% of all actors who ever stepped in front of a camera. If his performance doesn't put a lump in your throat, you may want to check your pulse.
I agree with you about DeNiro phoning it in the last several years, but not in A Bronx Tale. Also, IMO, Goodfellas was great! Casino suck ballz.
Casino suck ballz.
Sacrilege, I am speechless! I could accept anyones opinion who says they don't like Casino but to actually say it sucks ballz, that is tough to accept. I can think of plenty of movies that actually do suck ballz, Casino is no where near them.

First half of Casino is amazing. Second half is a big let-down. Too much Sharon Stone, and Joe Pesci is playing the same character from Good Fellas.

This is off-topic, but I remember reading an interview with the guy in Hollywood who trains all the actors who play prizefighters in movies. He came out of the fight game himself and he'd worked with most of the big actors who made fight movies back in the '70s and '80s. He said there was really just one actor who "got it" and really did show a measure of talent and who could have actually done some damage as a fighter. Jon Voight!
Go figure.

If you see Goodfellas first, then A Bronx Tale is just ok. IMO.
growing up in that atmosphere in Brooklyn, here's how i see it
Goodfellas is probably pretty accurate to what went on behind the scenes that general public didn't really see
, while A Bronx Tale was pretty accurate to what your average " Joe" witnessed pretty normally
my wife grew up right across the street from one of the "social Clubs" and there was an "Uncle tony" you made sure
you said hello to and showed the utmost respect too
i remember looking for a wedding hall for our reception and walking into to some ultra Italian place in Queen's and i
could swear there was "sit down" going on at the time..big round table 20 to 30 guys, smoking fat cigars in expensive suits
and little old italian ladies dressed in all black getting them food and drink..needless to say we didn't stay to long

I'd be a happy man if they never made another mobster movie....talk about an overdone genre.
I did, however, enjoy Steve Odenkirk's "The GodThumb".....hilarious. "Electro Robo Boogie......2"

This makes sense.
another thing you have to take into consideration is that not all the Mob
movies are depicted to be the same time period
GF's was 20's to 60's
Casino was late 60's to 70's
bronx tale and Donnie Brasco were 70's early 80's

Goodfellas starts in 1955 and goes until Henry's arrest and trial where he rats everyone out in 1980.
Bronx Tale starts in 1960 and ends in 1978-79.
So their time lines are just about the same.

Casino suck ballz.
We should stay on topic, but all I'll say is that Sharon Stone's whining, bitching, moaning, got annoying real fast in the second half and I would have cut her role down considerably. We get it ; she's a handful and screwed up. Let's put focus back on the protagonist who's more interesting anyway.

Wow, you were there when it went down?
On December 10, 2005, Brancato was arrested by the New York City Police Department in the Bronx on suspicion of murdering off-duty police officer Daniel Enchautegui. Enchautegui had served with the New York City Police Department for three years and was assigned to the 40th Precinct in the Bronx.[5] Enchautegui confronted Brancato and his accomplice, 48-year-old ex-Genovese crime family mob associate Steven Armento, outside at a vacant house located at 3119 Arnow Place, next to his own, after hearing glass break. While Enchautegui waited for backup, a gunfight erupted and Enchautegui was shot. He was later taken to Jacobi Medical Center, where he died. Police arrested Brancato and Armento in the vicinity, both with multiple gunshot wounds and in critical condition. Armento, who is the father of Brancato's girlfriend Stefanie, was arraigned on first-degree murder, for which he was convicted on October 30, 2008. Armento was later sentenced to life in prison without parole.[6] Brancato was arraigned for second-degree murder,[7] and his trial began on November 17, 2008.[6] Brancato was found not guilty of murder on December 22, 2008.[8] He was, however, convicted of first-degree attempted burglary, and he was sentenced on January 9, 2009, to 10 years in prison.[9] As state inmate #09A0227 incarcerated in the Oneida Correctional Facility in Rome, New York, he becomes eligible for parole in 2014

A Bronx tale can be seen as a "mob movie" but it's more of a coming of age story which deals with the struggles most parents face trying to teach their kids right from wrong and how to keep them on the straight and narrow.

Ummm no.
The angels would never ever move on the mob in one of the mob's joints in the first place, and if someone was stupid enough to do so, the angels would have laughed them out of the place for asking for help. No one went against the mob in one of their own places. Not the angels , not no one.

Yah, you're right. I was just being argumentative. The movies always show the Mob doing terrible things to people with no fear of reprisals. (i.e, the first Godfather where Michael wipes out the heads of the other families and then calmly goes back to business. Then, any episode of The Sopranos. Etc.)
Anyway, the Angels based on East Third Street in the Village are probably not the full union crew, so to speak.
