Bought a dud on Ebay and never tested it til today.
Who do you recommend, or should I toss it?

Did you test it with an ohm meter at the coil solder joints?
Sometimes just reheating/reflowing the coil's solder joints will bring them back...sometimes a cold solder joint is not visible to the naked eye.
If reheating/reflowing the coil's solder joints doesn't help, I'd try unsoldering the outer coil end, unwrap one turn off the coil, carefully remove the insulation at the solder joint location, insert the coil wire back in the terminal hole, and resolder the connection. Then check the coil continuity with an ohm meter.
If all this doesn't bring it back to life, I'd scrap it as paying someone to rewind/repot would probably be about the same price as a new pickup.

I bet someone on ebay would buy it from you, if you posted it as broken needing repair. Someone who does their own re-winds would probably love to get it dirt cheap. Sure beats throwing it into the trash.

Send it to Lyndy Fralin if you decide to have it rewound. He does great work and will take the time to talk to you about how you want it voiced. Very reasonable pricing too.
