Hey there, folks! I am very bored, and when this happens, TGP is my first thought!
I am waiting on a delivery of my new Celestial Effects Virgo Rock OD. It should be here Friday. It's a prototype left over from before the production units. I am really psyched, as I usually am when the big brown truck is coming my way! :)
This purchase has got me wondering what new effects companies you guys are digging. By new, I mean companies that have started up within the last few years. This is my first from Celestial Effects. The demos sound great, and Dom is a very nice guy!
Anyway, what do you think? What's catching your ear??

I'm pretty psyched about Black Arts Toneworks. I have their Pharaoh Fuzz on order. Already has quite a rep around here!

Of course Strymon, if you consider them new. And Bearfoot, if you consider it a new company.

I feel like Stomp Under Foot is finally getting the respect it deserves. Used to be an SUF muff would sell for $80 or so in the emporium, and now they seem to be going for close to new price. I think Matt is making the best muffs out there.

Wampler has been around a pretty long time. I think the first Pinnacle came out 5-7 years ago?

Black Arts Effectors is the flavor right now
other good ones I'm using:
Stomp Under Foot - if you need a specific Muff variant
Wren & Cuff - fantastic Muff type pedals and some other odds and ends
Fuzzhugger - great fuzz pedals, and some other wacky stuff
Devi Ever - over the top crazy fuzz pedals
Mid Fi - weird, crazy stuff
Barber - amazing pedals at decent prices (underpriced really)

Jet City Amplification is the best thing going as a newcomer in the "value-priced" portion of the market. It's a good thing they did expanding into pedaldom. The Afterburner is a wonderful tool.

Dvk tech looks pretty sweet. They just started carrying them at a local shop and they are pretty wild. I think It was a fuzz vibe combo or something

Spaceman.
The guy has started his pedal business not longer than 2 years (I think). His products somehow are about new invention and very interesting. The last one is the combination / blend of Germanium and Silicon fuzz. To be honest, I have no idea how it will turn out but the idea sounds creative to me.
By the way, he is also good in replying emails.

Some good ones here that I've had pedals from and I would have mentioned too! - specifically Spaceman, Strymon, and Fuzzhugger!
I'll also add: Basic Audio (http://www.mrdwab.com/john/pedalpage.html), Neunaber (http://www.neunabertechnology.com/), Station Audio (http://stationaudio.net/home), and GNI (http://www.nigmusic.com.br/gni_pedals/index.asp).

I don't know how long he's been around, but Jack DeVille's stufff is pretty good, damn good. Also Dan Burgess/This1smyne, has been going into the effects thing, adding to his list of pedalboard enhancements, etc.

I just got the Whirlwind Orange Box phaser, great pedal, it doesnt suck the tone or sound especially when cranked, when the notes feedback the throb sounds just incredible.

I define new as ones I just heard of in the last few years. In that case I don't consider Barber, Hermida, or HBE to be new, though I think all three make great products.
Strymon comes to mind, there stuff looks great, like the clips. Whirlwind as well, planning to get an orange box phaser soon. Just ran into this one and their imperial overdrive, really like the clips. http://www.eepedals.com/

Did you know that Strymon is Damage Control with a new name? Yes, HBE is not "new new" but they are starting to become a serious player, I was just mentioning them because they ride below most people's radar.

I didn't know that actually. Interesting.
On this board, I don't see HBE mentioned much, but on the other board I frequent they are brought up much more often...

As stated, Black Arts Toneworks and the Pharaoh are superb, can't wait to see what Mark comes up with next! The Pharaoh is the coolest, most useable fuzz I've ever had in my arsenal.
Tom Dalton at Fuzzhugger is putting out some gems also. Currently own an Algal Bloom, Phantom Arcade, and ABsynth 5k which are all awesome fuzz/noisemaking masterpieces!

Their pedals are top notch, Paul Gilbert just designed a pedal through them and Gary Hoey has been using their stuff for quite a while. Even George Lynch has caught on to how cool they are. Really nice company too, husband and wife team, highly recommended.

No, Strymon is Strymon and had products before involvement with Damage Control. Through a partnership with Damage Control, Terry released more and varied pedals, some based on the technology and form factor he (Strymon) developed (not Damage Control).
Now it's very much more an intertwined situation, but Strymon was Strymon only, well before Damage Control came along.

YES! The Ventilator is one wicked pedal!
Also, I didn't know Effectrode was a new company. I want their OD pedal so bad! Major GAS from that one! It's like all the best from the Butler with 3 tubes and the ability to interchange them! PGS does a demo of it. My favorite sound is when he puts the 12AU7 in with the 12AX7. Super sweet sound!

Paul Trombetta Designs. Cool takes on fuzz/dirt, rumored to be able to get into that magic Cornish fuzz-dirt territory for much less money and wait. They sound great to me.
Really really want a Mini-Bone, but want to try them all. He's also a forum member too. Seems like a good guy as far as I can tell, although I've never contacted him personally.

Neunaber Technology. Got the Wet Reverb pedal and love it. They also are all about being green and don't put the manual with the pedals, you have to download from their site. Anywho, best reverb pedal I've found.

Yes, Strymon was Strymon before Damage Control joined up to help make Strymon the company that we love for great pedals. I think before DC came along, Strymon hadn't released any pedals yet, right? Strymon developed the SVpre but that was all that was actually released before DC's involvement right?
Rockett Pedals are fairly new and make some cool stuff. Never kept any of my Rockett pedals long term but they were great, very well done and professional made. They have a very original, very nice custom enclosure for their pedals. Really well made.
Not sure how long Basic Audio has been around, but that stuff is great!
And BJFe is definitely not new. In fact Bjorn just mentioned, in a statement about the new Bearfoot venture, something about "10 long years making pedals" or something like that. Even Mad Professor has been with Bjorn quite a while.

Is OKKO new? I didn't think so but their pedals are so fresh and classy, I wouldn't doubt it. I love the Dominator and Diablo.

Railhead Effects anybody? Morgan seems to be workin his butt off with manufacturing and shipping lately.
Source Audio, not sure how long they've been around (edit: formed in 2005; released first product 2006), but don't hear much about them around here.

I'm interested in their SoundBlox Pro series. If my effects GAS starts again, I'll be considering these.

I think their Compressor was out before the merger. If I remember correctly, Strymon brought Damage Control on board to help them work on the Sharc processors they were using for their pedals. The guys at DC and Strymon were having such a great time and were so impressed with the results, they decided to merge.

Plus Damage Control was having a bit of trouble, almost 100% undeserved, and could definitely use the name refresher. A long story but worth looking into if you like the company, I was a big fan from more or less day one and managed to get two of the early DC pedals, a Solid Metal and Liquid Blues, just before they were out of stock everywhere for about a year. Lovely things even if they are mildly overengineered with regard to the needs of a pedal and/or blast plating.
