I love the whole idea of Amplitube but I have never been able to use it effectively. I think it sounds pretty good, looks great, and lots of fun details but in practice, it's a PITA. My biggest issue is that I can't PLAY guitar and HEAR the tones at the SAME TIME because of the latency issues.

I recently got a new PC with I5 chip, tons of ram, Win7 pro 64 bit. and it's still super slow. I run it as a plug-in in Cubase.

I figured that's just how it was but yesterday I got the Amplitube app on my iPhone and I have been riffing along all day. What the....?

I am confused now. How is it that my tiny hand-held phone runs this program faster than powerful computer? I figure it's most likely user error.

Can anyone help me here? There's got to be something I am doing wrong.

Thanks

How are you connecting your guitar to your PC?

An interface with good drivers would be good.....and optimizing your PC for audio also.

I don't know or use PC's but there is a thread here that may be helpful.....

Assuming you have the current drivers and set your buffers for minimal latency...I would assume it is down to optimizing your PC for audio then....

Since I don't know PC's I have no idea if Win7 64bit is of any special consequence or consideration with your set-up or not. Or if their is a FW chip issue....

I'm sure the PC guys will chime in.....

my Cubase was super slow until I installed the correct ASIO driver. Don't use the default Win7 ASIO driver, it introduced a lot of latency into my system. I use a Presonus Inspire interface and once I installed the Presonus ASIO driver, all was well.
