Why does it seem so difficult to accurately model a univibe? Most of the vibe models I've heard were not even close.

Digitech's, while not perfect, is closer than most.

Do you mean the rotary stompbox that was recently released?

Absolutely. I honestly liked it better than some analog photocell circuits I've played.
Especially given it is foot controllable.

Of the medelers that I have been in contact with I though teh RP1000's was the best. Very throby(sp)!

univibe is hard to do right because its a sophisticated, yet primitive effect. univibes produce a very distinct, though somewhat lo-fi effect... there are a lot of things going on when photoresistors light and dim, and a lot of those things are difficult to model mathematically, given their inconsistency and upredictability.

My digitech RP250 does an ok vibe....especially considering the low price point. The HD500 (M-Series) vibe is disappointing. The Axe-FX vibe is impressive...especially when expertly tweaked.

I own a Sweetsound Mojo Vibe which I think sounds great, so maybe I'm a tough audience on vibe sims. But, I've heard clips posted of the Axe-FX vibe tweaked by another owner of the Mojo Vibe. He seemed a little disappointed that the AFX couldn't completely nail the Mojo sound and he thought it needed at least one more algorithm to model a certain random quality of analog vibes. Personally, I thought he nailed the Mojo sound so close that if I owned an AFX, I think I'd easily sell my Mojo Vibe.

Just get a Cool Cat Vibe. From Danelectro.

I never found a modeled vibe that did it for me. When the AxeFx got significant Vibe enhancements I tweaked the crap out of it. It is definitely the MOST configurable Vibe. I'm sure it will fool the audience, but no matter what I did, there was just SOMETHING missing that I could never put my finger on.

Never found Line 6's to be too good, or Vox's honestly. Never tried Boss'! Digitech's, however, is honestly quite satisfactory. By this I mean it's probably as good or better than any cheap pedals you'd get. The Cool Cat is also a very good option, especially if you look for a used one - you can easily find them for $35 or so.

+1

Digitech univibe and Leslie FX are the best budget versions. The vastly underrated EX-7 pedal has both and it rocks. The L6 models are lame.

The cool cat vibe is also very good. Makes you wonder what the extra $250 goes for in the booteek versions.

That sounds pretty good. :aok I think the Tonelab does a pretty good job with it also. Line 6, not even close.
