I've got a '57 Champ RI and I wanted to swap the tubes. Damn things are firmly in place. Is there something holding them in? Should I really just grab 'em at the base and wiggle with force?

This is an amp I'm tryin' to sell, hence the reticence to risk any damage. I'd still like to hear it with the nice ol' Delco 6v6 I've got handy.

I bought some new Tung-Sol reissues that were a tight fit like that. I have luck with a steady pull with kind of a circular wiggle.

wiggle and be firm, but not forceful....being too forceful will snap the guide pin on the tube

I bought some Chinese octal sockets once that were really, really tight. So tight I just sold the amplifier with the nice old tubes inserted instead of risking busting them to put cheaper ones in.
