I was just wondering how all of you felt about the Joe bonamassa epiphone. I saw one for sale but it seemed kind of pricey. It was 699.00 but it came with a case. That price doesn't include tax. I was considering buying it but I'm having trouble differentiating between that and a regular epiphone. The only real difference seems to be the color and the pick guard. Does anyone have an opinion on this?
I also saw a really nice PRS which is comparable in price and looks like It can do some damage.

I was thinking about purchasing the PRS also. I just wanted something a little different from what I already have. Lots of ibanez guitars. Any thoughts.

I'm not an Epiphone expert, but I picked up a new Bonamassa last week. Fit and finish is very good, Grover tuners, the BurstBucker pickups sound great and the setup was good right out of the box. For $699, I think it's a decent deal. I have owned the PRS SE as well, and they are nice guitars for the price. However, I think the Bonamassa has the edge when it comes to pickups. Plus, it has a cool case, lifetime warranty and is limited to a production run of 1,000, which may help if you decide to sell down the road.

Gibson Burstbucker pickups, long-neck tenon, solid maple cap, Mallory capacitors (I believe), and a nice hardshell case.

Nice guitars. I just bought 59 limited issue with burst buckers. It's a lot of guitar. I told them I wanted 100 off and no tax. GC went for it. I'm very happy. I also got a case with it. Long tenden and all flame maple. GREAT guitar all set and ready. Smart buy.

i've read nothing but great reviews on it, but haven't played one myself. i'd say as long as you're not a name brand snob, it's probably a great guitar!

i tried one in Sam Ash last weekend. the neck is thicker than on the standard epis and the goldtop has a greenish tinge to it. it was also heavier than the standard epis.
the standard epi neck tenon isn't bad. it's definitely better than the Gibson rocker joint. personally, i wouldn't worry about it too much.

I think the fantastic neck is what makes it the BEST budget Les Paul out there.
I dislike the black plastic bits but for a few buck the cream stuff can be had.

you have to like a thick neck. i like it, but i think i dig the standard epi neck a bit better. dunno why. i'm usually the other way around.

I've been impressed with these last few signature Les Pauls Epiphone has done. The Appetite Epi was pretty good, save the fact that it was chambered and felt too light. I've always thought they should, at the very least, actually use mahogany and maple tops.
