..a la Castles Made of Sand, Wind Cries Mary etc...How do you guys set your Strat's tone and volume controls for these kinds of tones? Tone all the way up, volume 75%, tone halfway, volume 40% (etc)? Do you use the neck pickup only, or the neck + middle, or both? I've had Texas Specials, Suhr V60LP's and FL's, and they all seemed to easily cop these Hendrix tones, but I've got Lollar Blackfaces in my current Strat and I'm having a tougher time dialing it in to the same tones. Would Blondes be better for what I want, or should I go back to the Suhrs or something else?

A big part of that is a touch sensitive amp.

True! I'm using the same amp, however, that I used to dial in those Hendrix tones using other pickups. When you've got your pickups and amps sorted, how do you set your guitar up for those tones?

An old plexi head and cab will get you close.

He used a tele on that? Perhaps that explains why I've found that when I use my ASAT in the middle position... and roll back the volume on the guitar... that it has a pretty decent Hendrix vibe.:)

My favorite for that was always Little Wing by SRV. Total notched, chord lead stuff with just a bit o' dirt in there. play light, it's clean, hit hard and you get the gravel. I love John Frusciante's rhythm stuff too. I
