I recently purchased a pair of westone um3x(triple driver) in ears because I'm starting to play at more places that require that you use IEM's and I used them for the first time this past weekend and all I can say is wow. I've always been a proponent of wedges because I always felt like IEM's made my guitar sound not so great but now I've realized that it's just because the ears that I was using before sucked. Now I'm kicking myself for not saving up for some JH audio customs or something. These were money well spent though in any case. Anyone else experienced this when going to some nicer in ears?

I use way old Shure E3 and they are fine. Axe FX sounds great.
However, i have newer SE425s on order. I dont need killer custom isloation ( yet). Also i use an older Shure PSM600 WIRED beltpack, so no companding from wireless to mess up the tone.
Went from " you're always too loud!" ( Matchless rig) to " we cant hear you!" LOL:jo
I tell em... guess you have to invest in your own monitor rig. I Did.
If I have to, i bleed in some RCF wedge. I would rather not carry it.
My 2 yen. YMMV etc.

I'm getting ready to buy a wireless system for myself. I'm clumsy enough without wires attached to me, although I definitely appreciate the lack of compounding in the wired packs. Unfortunately I can't swing a sennheiser system, but i'm really enjoying exploring this.

Shure PSM 200 is the only way to go ( IMHO) without sepnding big $$. the only downside is its not stereo, which is not a big deal live. Get good earpeices though. dont cheap out there.
Good luck!

Once I plugged those UE Triples in I was blown away. Huge difference.

Are you using the IEMS wired or wireless?
I'm curious - anyone aware of a combo guitar / headset cable? Seems like a logical thing to make.

Using them wireless with a mipro 808tr wireless system, sounds good.
I had this epiphany as well, I was using the stock Sennheiser earphones with my G2 system, and went to the dual driver UM-2's. Not that they are anywhere near the top, but they made a HUGE difference.

I didn't read this right before, this woul be a good idea although I use wireless on my guitar as well. I'm very clumsy when using cables for some reason.

I posted a little thread about my impressions a while back. Through an Ipod? Not much difference between the Triples and Duals.
But a live mix? Wow.

I don't play anywhere large enough to justify wireless. Neither wearing 2 transceivers or trailing 2 wires is very appealing.

It is really annoying to wear two packs. I wish someone would make a combo guitar/iem
