So before I narrow my search further I just want to get a TGP overview of what I should look for.

I'm in the market for a new amp and this is the tone I'm gunning for. I know the guy uses an Orange 140ADHTC and Fender Super Reverb live, but I'm looking for his studio tone.

i would go for the orange. although a lot of that sound is the fender with a rat.

Can fenders get that bassy? Shame on me, but I haven't played many...

I've heard twins with mucho BASS! Think about all that headroom, it's all going to keep that low end tight. I think Fenders are the dogs and own a vintage Super Reverb. It would definitely get that kinda sound cranked or with a little help from pedals.

Though with a recording it's hard to tell what is used because of all the production that goes on after the amp is recorded. I think you are basically guessing unless there is very little compressions, etc used. I think it's a fools game really, just grab what is at hand and try to get as close as possible.

Most of the time I play into a vintage Deluxe Reverb and I can pretty much make it sound however I want with the help of the right pedals and guitars.

I used to own an Orange AD140. I'm leaning towards that being a Fender tone. It's too browned out and saggy for an AD140, which has the stiffer response you'd expect from a 140w head. That tone has sagging tube rectifier all over it.

Perhaps it's a combination of both amps? I pulled a similar trick when we recorded our album:

I wanted the chime of the Vox and the grunt of the Orange... so I had the engineer mix the two together and got my wish. Some songs have more of one amp's tone than the other due to the style of the song... but for a majority of the time, it's a mix of the two tones.
