Here's a pedalboard that I just finished for Mark Karan. Mark is an amazing player who's played and toured with Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, Huey Lewis, Dave Mason, Paul Carrack, Delaney Bramlett, Sophie B. Hawkins, The Rembrandts, Mickey Hart, Phil Lesh, and took Jerry Garcia's place in The Other Ones. Mark is currently a member of RatDog with Bob Weir and he fronts his own band, Jemimah Puddleduck here in the Bay Area.

Mark wanted a few custom things on the rig starting with the ability to use the Strymon El Capistan Delay in either the effects loop or the front of the amp (for amps with and without effects loops). I built Mark a custom interface with a switch to select between sending the delay to either the effects loop or to the front of the amp. This would give him ultimate flexibility depending on the amp that he uses. Mark is primarily using Two-Rock and Mad Professor amplifiers.

I also tracked down some pedals for Mark for this project. I picked up a Neo Ventilator for the Leslie stuff and it sounds amazing (so rich and quiet compared to other Leslie simulators)! I also picked up a Rockett Josh Smith Dual Tremolo to get the best vintage Fender sounds with the ability to have two independent tremolo speeds to select from. It also sounds fantastic!

The order of the effects are:

IN FRONT OF AMP:

INTERFACE (buffer), Sonic Research Turbo Tuner, Hartman Envelope Filter, Hermida Zendrive, Caroline Guitar Company Wave Cannon, Rockett Josh Smith Dual Tremolo, Catalinbread Pareidolia, KLON Centaur, Neo Ventilator (Leslie), INTERFACE (buffer)

EFFECTS LOOP:

INTERFACE (send), Strymon El Capistan, INTERFACE (return)

*Note - The Strymon El Capistan delay can run either in the effects loop or in front of the amp depending on how the switch on the interface is set. If the switch is set in the "FX LOOP ON" position, it sends the delay to the effects loop. In the "FX LOOP OFF" position, it puts the delay as the last pedal in the signal path before hitting the output buffer that goes to the front of the amp.

Enjoy!

Mason

Awesome Mason - sounds great, looks great - muy tidy!

For those of you who don't know Mason, he's extremely skilled at pedalboard solutions and he does lots of high end work for serious pros and serious amateurs. I'm constantly impressed with both his designs and his execution.

Thanks, Dana O.
