Tweed Pro 15" speakers, i need 2, what to buy?

I have 2 tweed pros I built and need 15"s for em.
What should I get. Was thinking of either a p15n or a weber 15150. Definately want an alnico speaker. Is there anything out there thats good?

I've got a P15n, but if I were to do it again, I would buy a Weber. The new Jensens are kind of lackluster, IMHO.

Weber's AlNiCo 15's, his version of the P15N, is my choice for tweed Pro's.

Definately not on the ceramic eminence.
Those ceramic speakers are okay, but sort of lack something.

i got an EVM-15L (not sure if it's alnico or not) and a Weber Michigan Alnico. don't know if the Weber will fit, but...here are some specs (https://weberspeakerscom.secure.powweb.com/weber/michigan15a.htm) .

$100 for the EVM, $125 for the Weber + shipping.

What about the Weber Texas 15? Sounds good on paper. Anyone heard it?

Check out the Weber 15F150-O. Wonderful sounding speaker. It's definitely different than the classic tweed alnico sound, but I've never heard an original Jensen Alnico that sounded as good as this Weber ceramic. Could just be my taste, but I really like Weber ceramics with tweed type amps. this 15 inch speaker is loud, big bass but a very clear sound. Has the characteristic ceramic smoothness on top and a soft edge to the sound bottom to top. This one would be my choice for a Pro.

By far the two best sounding speakers for those rigs are vintage P15Ns and vintage JBL D130Fs. The Jensen gives the traditional american sound, the JBL adds some lows and top end and sound creamier cranked since it's not working as hard...

Don't know if this will help w/ your decision, but---

I have a Clark Beaufort w/ a 15" speaker in a Tweed Pro cab on the way from Michael---I wanted a 15", and he nicely obliged! ;)
---i did'nt need anther 30 or 35 watt amp, or I woulda got a regualr Pro of some kind--

Anyway, we talked quite a bit, told him I wanted to use it for traditional 40's-50's blues and West Coast jump styles mostly,
and he recommended (and I complied) a special-ordered speaker
from Weber---a P15NT---the T stands for (i think) Treble, as Mike said this will keep the upper-end frequencies a bit more intact and clear (I've heard a couple of Webers in 12" Deluxe Reverbs---I don't remember the types-- that i thought were too dark, missing that 'sparkle' we all love in
BF and SF amps---BUT, I heard some Weber P10Q's in a 3-10" homemade fender-style amp (w/ reverb) that sounded REAL good!!

Anyway, I'll try to remember to post my impressions when I get the amp!!

Hi, I'm a big tweed pro fan, own a '522 and a '57 and gig with the '57 a bunch. Here's my $0.02. Since you have two Tweed Pros I would do this: I would set one up with a 5U4G recto and nice 5881's - tung sols, Philips 6L6WGB's, etc. I would get an old (vintage) P15N for this rig. Preferably buy a blown one and have it reconed by someone good (or buy one whose recone pedigree you can verify). Rig number two I would do as Zappafrank suggested and take Clark's recommendation on the weber P15NT. I haven't heard that speaker, but have a C12NT - and it was good. So I think they are onto something with the "T" webers. The speaker needs that extra hi end of the "T" option (Q-style cone). Ask weber to break it in for you as much as they are willing. Then put a GZ34 recto in that amp with 6L6GC of your choice. Now you have a Pro for all occasions - one that gives it up early and one that gives it up late. Take the appropriate one to the gig depending on room size, crowd, outdoors etc. You're set!

You want an original Jensen P15N or C15N. The modern reproductions, by Jensen or Weber, will not replicate their fine tone, and you can get them for the same price or less than new reproductions.

I have a 15" Weber Texas and it sounds great for a low-fi early ZZ top type thing. Probably not all that versatile.

I also have a 15 Weber Chicago and it is a very impressive speaker.

I have a 1960's Jensen C15N with original cone which I'd sell if someone wants it.
