Order of Digital and Analog Delay

What are you guys doing if you are running a digital and analog delay?

Do you prefer digital before the analog or vice versa? I'm working a new setup with a timefactor and a memory lane 2, and wondering about the sound people are getting based on the order of analog vs digial delay.

Right now I have the digital into the analog. I'm not using both at the same time that often. The analog mostly for times whene there is a lot if space in the song, and the quality of the delays are very noticeable.

I was initially thinking that I would try the digital before the analog for the following reasons:

1) Longer strong clearer repeats going into a darker/shorter/softer repeat (almost like a reverb)
2) If using the looper on the TF, then I still could have a bit of additional delay
3) The following delay that is darker gives the feeling of the sound traveling somewhere.

I guess I am going to try the other way too and see if I like the result.

You have to try it depending on what effect you're looking for. I run my "spacial delay" last to give everything before it some air, that'll be either my MIJ DD2 or an analog delay. The special effects stuff for solos goes before BUT I've just started playing with dotted 8th delays and the 1/4 delay should go before the dotted 8th, because it gives you such cool, syncopated effects...

That's more along the lines of what I am going for, if using the two together. The TF has dual delay, so I can have a digital 1/4 into 1/8* and then follow up with a darker analog that could be syncopated to that rhythm, or be low in the mix for some additional warmth.

If I am using a high gain sound, then the digital with low level, long feedback into an analog sounds extremely huge, and it is not even that muddy if set properly.

I like running digital first then analog. I don't usually use them together but some times I like to set my analog for a very short delay and digital long drawn out. Id rather the analog be last so the tone doesn't get effected. Sometimes I run stereo so I have to have my m9 last... In that case I don't use them at the same time so it doesn't really matter.

You are right...that was one of the other reasons I was thinking about order. Thought I might want the ML2 before to do the darker 1/4 before the digital 1/8*.

So many things to think about. Maybe I need another timefactor or another ML2

i run digital (higher mix) into analog (DML w/mod and high repeats, low mix) to get the clarity from the digital delay and the analog to fill out the space.
