Dan Armstrong Plexi cases?

Hey there,
I just picked up a Japanese made Dan Armstrong Plexi guitar and the case it came in looks better than most of the ones the Japanese guitars came in back then. It looks a lot like a 70's Gibson case but the inside is a blue colour.

I'm wondering if it is a actual Dan Armstrong case, anyone here know what those cases looked like?

I think that the '60s/early '70s Dan Armstrong Plexi guitars and basses had rectangular cases originally. Maybe not for the entire run, but the one I have (a '69) did. It is a dark gray with blue lining.

Any logo or anything on yours? Is it the standard 535 style case?

It's a Les Paul or more like a SG style "fitted" case. No logos anywhere on it.

Short answer, no. the original DA cases were square.

Since you said Japanese Dan Armstrong, you mean the reissue, I'm guessing. I owned a 1970 Dan Armstrong Lucite for about 25 years. Purchased it in 75. The cases were rectangular, no logo, black exterior and black fur interior. Had a large compartment in the middle of the case. I've got a photo of mine in the case somewhere.

My bass' case looks almost identical to that, but has blue interior - actually, that looks like it could be a bass case.

dspellman's pic above is the reissue case - you can get those by themselves now too (got one for my other Plexi bass). Those are really nice, and a bit sturdier than the originals. Cool checkerboard black tolex too...

It's a 70's Japanese copy of a Plexi not a reissue.

my DA from the last run of reissues has the red lined "guitar shaped" case with an ampeg badge on it, the switch broke in transit when i bought it and cut it out of the circuit.... No tone control now... don't need it anyway.
