What are your thoughts on his limited musical output? His vocal phrasing sounds exactly like his dad and very Beatle-esque.

I thought he was really solid in the Concert for George. Did one of the things his Dad did well most of the time, served the song.

It's scary how much he looks like his dad

He looks like his dad. Has his dads sense of humor(band name, etc). His songs are weak. His vocal phrasing is like his dads. He has a massive ego and a massive bank account. He may never become a good songwriter because of his lack of suffering. I do dig some of the sounds.

I liked You Are Here. It took several listens before I really got into it, but I did the same thing with All Things Must Pass and Living in the Material World, the first of which is my favorite record of all time. That said, I don't think he has quite the talent of his father, but he has a good thing going nonetheless.

Where did the info on his ego come from?I can only imagine that it's quite possible. The silver spoon effect and all.

I like him, he's talented. It's not fair to compare him or Julian or Sean to their Dads tho, who could live up to that? Zak's done pretty well playin' with The Who and Oasis. He's obviously a world class drummer but there are alot of them out there, he might never have gotten to the audition if not for the pedigree. As for Dhani, we probably would never have heard of him if not for the famous dad. It's got to be easy for him to get the record deal in the 1st place and of course it doesn't hurt that he actually has talent. But because of his connections and financial resources he's never gonna have to work at it and put up with all the shit most people have to in order to make it. I'm sure he knows this and also knows that no matter how big he gets or how many records he sells he will always be compared to his Dad. He really can't win. I give him props for making the effort. Julian it seemed had a pretty good career going for awhile and then just walked away fm it. I often wonder about that.

Just watch any interview. The guy seems to believe he should automatically dominate music and have his own record label. That said I dig some of the stuff.
Probably a brat in some ways, but i must say i am pulling for him to deliver a great album....i am guessing he has the ability inside....seems to have that look of determination too....but what do i know!

Not saying anyone is wrong or calling anyone out, but why is it that we always compare talent directly with "personal suffering?" Can one not simply be talented without having been through the damn Depression?
Anyway, like Dhani a lot. Seen videos of him performing with Ben Harper a few times, very good sound.

He has the gene pool and the trust fund.
He is NOT his father.
However, potential exists.

Didn't dig the music, Sean Lennon is a little better but not much.

I had no idea he was actually performing or in a band.....but I thought he did very well in the Concert For George too.
And yes, very scary watching him on stage. looked like George reincarnated or early video footage.

I have not heard his work. I did hear him on the world cafe talking and he sounds no better or worse in ego than most TGPer's when being interviewed. Oddly he seems to have taken his time deciding to become a recording artist, 10 years ago after dad died would hav been he better career move. He's got to be in his early 30's a bit late to start...maybe it's done from love of music then ....who knows
I assume his music is similar in style to his dads....why do these guys always do that. like that steve howes kids are pure jazz guys, notart rock wannbes. Seems that the kids of Lenon n Harrison would do better playing Death Metal
