Big f'n Al!

What a great group. They stayed far too tasty to ever hit it big.

Just found this, Terry Adams' New NRBQ??? Actually, it doesn't sound shabby, I think I would check them out if they come around here. From the Bearsville Theater, 4/2/11:

Apparently, they have a new record. I like this tune, I'd buy it!

But this is what I was originally looking for; quintessential Q (my favorite Big Al lead, too).

Hey, check out Big Al in The Wildweeds, ca. 1967!

I am looking into going to a show (June, Maxwells Hoboken NJ) by Terry and crew, just for old time sake.

wow. I realize now that I really haven't kept up with the Q. Just read up on the "new NRBQ" with Terry, as well as the Spampinato Brothers band. Gotta say, I thought there could not be a Q without Big Al, and I was sort of wrong, but I really don't think there can be a Q without Joey, and Tommy too. But I wish Terry well, sounds like he's been through quite a lot. I'll miss the real NRBQ, back in the day they could not be beat, not by anyone.

Perfectly stated!

Their gigs at the Bayou in DC back in the 80's are some of the fondest live show memories I'll ever have.

I saw them a few times at the Bayou*. Once at Wax Museum, once at the Bethesda Cinema and Draft House, once at Jaxx*. I've never seen a band that elicits more joy from the audience. Sometimes I would stand off to the side and look at the faces of the crowd and people would be beaming.

Coincidentally, I spent a couple hours listening to the Q yesterday at work, and stumbed across a very cool interview with Terry:
