Thinking of trading my Super lead clone for a 900 slx....was looking for 800's but no one stepped forward....any opinions on the 900?

Is your superlead clone a 100 watt or 50? The plexi will have more pant flapping authority and punch due to the power section (transformers) but the tone of the SLX is not bad...you can get a good Guns n Roses Use your Illusion tone out of it with ease.

I had one and stupidly sold it: like joolzriff said, good high-gain tones and nice crunch.

Horrible, farty, flubby, indistinct low-end. They tossed another stage in without thinking about the right way to do it.

I was so looking forward to these when they first came out. After bringing one home and comparing it to my 800s, I couldn't get it back to the store fast enough. Horrible disappointment.

That different from the 800?

If you like the sound of your Super Lead, maybe get it modded instead of going for the SLX. The Super Lead is a good platform for mods. A knowledgeable Marshall tech will know what to do for more gain, master volume, tone tweaking, etc.

I sold my SLX and had my 75 Super Lead modded and am very happy.

I've said it before : I like JCM 900s. Cool sounding amps (especially in the intended full band performance context), and the SL-X version is very dope indeed. Good amps for hard rock / metal / ska.
