View Full Version : Going To Hail

Well, yesterday was the worst day of storms I've ever witnessed in my lifetime living in east Tennessee. We didn't get it as bad as Alabama, but it was bad enough. My car is now masquerading as the moon with all the craters it has in it now, as I was at work when it hit. Biggest hail I've ever seen. Windshield, roof, trunk, hood, mirrors, doors, and fenders-got it all!
Yeah, I know "it's just a car, etc." but I still owe 2 years of payments and it completely sucks looking at it now, wondering if a body shop can work a miracle.

Usually there's a few crews of "dentists" that follow storms around the country, repairing hail damage. Call a dealer and see if they know if there's any around you yet, because they use them to take the pockmarks out of their inventory.

Well, the estimate is for more than the car books at, so down the total chute it will go. I have always driven my cars 10 years, and had this one just the way I wanted it. Of course there were 7 years to go, so I am screwed. Gonna think about it a few days, but am leaning on buying something that's basically a reliable piece of crap-that way I won't have the added stress of trying to maintain a nice vehicle that I have to spend so much time in.

Dude. Get an 89 toyota pickup. You can find them around 2500, drive it for years and probably get your money back when you're done with it. They say at 125K miles the 22R motor is just getting broke in. Haven't had any major issues with mine in three years, just needed the carb worked. That's it. Pretty good on gas and tires, I put a camper on back and I can haul my whole rig, a few guitars, pedalboard, a couple amps, and that's just laying down. Stand it up and I can fit a whole band, guitars, drums, amps, a couple 412s...the whole gitup.

That's exactly the kind of vehicle I'm thinking of getting.
