Watched a couple of vids of this and it soudns cool. I use a SIB vibromatic which I like but the vids of the Parediola sound a little better to me. More definition in the notes .

Cant find one to try out but with the aussie $ so good it seems it may be worth grabbing on a hunch .

mnay users out there ?

I really like mine, I'm not much of a modulation fan, but the pareidolia works really nicely for me,
The vibromatic is a vibrato though (right??) The pareidolia is more of a uni vibe with a subtle tremolo mixed in. No pitch modulation.

If you like the sound though, go for it, its a great pedal

cool.

I thought the vid on their site it was pitch modulation but listening to some others on you tube it seems more like a phasey, trem like you said .its memorising thats for sure

its a cool sound

I love mine. I've grown tired of a lot of modulation effects, they're very...archetypal I guess. The Pareidolia is very unique, not as in your face or familiar sounding as other mod effects....though it can thump if you want it to. I use mine when a want a little "movement" in my tone. Sounds great after OD pedals.

Yeah, that's the cool thing about the Pareidolia -- as sort of a tremolovibe type of pedal, you can run it on either side of your dirt section and get cool tones out of it. I've got a couple of demos on YouTube. Search @ www.youtube.com/crxshdxmmy

It IS unique.

It IS subtle.

It can be used tastefully in situations where one would also choose a tremolo, but not a phaser or univibe.

Here's my demo...

Hence the name 'Pareidolia' - you can't quite put your finger on what is happening, but you are compelled to affix a meaning to it:

Pareidolia is a psychological phenomenon involving a vague and random stimulus (http://www.thegearpage.net/wiki/Stimulation) (often an image or sound) being perceived as significant. Common examples include seeing images of animals or faces in clouds, the man in the moon (http://www.thegearpage.net/wiki/Man_in_the_moon) or the Moon rabbit (http://www.thegearpage.net/wiki/Moon_rabbit), and hearing hidden messages (http://www.thegearpage.net/wiki/Hidden_message) on records (http://www.thegearpage.net/wiki/Gramophone_record) played in reverse. The word comes from the Greek para- (http://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/para) – "beside", "with", or "alongside" and eidōlon – "image".

Some people hear pitch shifting happening which is understandable since the signal is being split into two freq bands and modulated independently - especially at the faster speeds into a multi-speaker amp. Then of course there is tremming going on and some phasing as those two bands intersect which also gives you a bit of a filtery thing happening too.

It's really too bad Fender nixed that circuit so quickly because it's really about the coolest modulation sound ever IMO. The Magnatone pitch-shifting vibrato is also hypnotic as hell - you literally fall into the sound and it just envelops you. I remember when Nic had a proto circuit on the breadboard and asked me to try it - I think I played for 45mins without saying a word, which if you know me at all is quite something.

cool . May have to nick that word for a song lyric

just bought it so cant wait to give it a try . not many pedals catch my eye as being something different to try out so its won the battle there

honestly think it will replace the vibromatic even though its a little different in effect . the vibromatic is a good pedal but been using it a long time . ready to change it up

I got mine last night. I really like it. It is different and subtle but strongly persuasive. I found myself playing cords and changes I have never dreamed of playing before. I found it absolutely inspiring. I can't wait to finish the new board and give a real whirl.

Try it pre and post dirt - it's pretty different in terms of it's intensity.

I love mine. It's my only non-dirt, non-delay effect....essentially a do everything at the same time modulation type effect.

It sits well in a live environment and there isn't a single unusable setting. What more can you ask for?

Erksin nailed it, you get lost in the sound. I have two videos on my youtube, 1 pre delay, 1 post. Having it pre delay brings out/highlights a shimmer sound and it kills.

To the OP, I used to have the Mr. Vibromatic. Cool little pedal but the Pareidolia is quite different. The Vibromatic is distinctly pitch vibrato but you can blend in either phase or tremolo throb. The Pareidolia, as mentioned here and evident from the videos (and my own personal experience with the pedal) is more of a tremolo that has a phase effect... thus putting it somewhere in between univibe, tremolo, phaser. It's a great pedal for sure and makes for a great modulation swiss army knife, particularly if pedalboard real estate is an issue. If that's not the case though, you may find you have a uses for both the Pareidolia and the SIB.

I love the sound... It's like "tremolo with a little extra sparkle".

Unfortunately, the pedal I bought was very noisy... a lot of white noise when the effect was engaged, even if my guitar was turned down to zero. I've sent it back to CB for service and am hoping this will solve the problem as I love the sound.

It's funny... I found some comments from (apparently) when this pedal first came out, and one guy was like "Huh. They just made a Univibe". As a modulation pedal, this pedal couldn't sound more different from a Univibe, IMO. A lot more subtle and, as I said, very tremolo-esque.

I suspect it'll be better when you get it back. Mine's not noisy at all.

This pedal sounds really cool. I already have a phaser on my board but may make room for this as it dosn't sound the same to me. It reminds me of the EHX Wiggler I had a while back - I loved the sound but it was a tube pedal and kept breaking! I always hoped EHX would do a SS version of the Wiggler but maybe CB have got there first.

I'm on tour right now and about to use it for the first time. Thoughts to follow. Btw-I'm posting on a train from Oslo to Halden Norway. Why can't we get this service on the damn plane or at home on the trains???

I will be working on it today. Did the buffer mod yesterday. It should be back to you very soon.
