had it not been for 23secs-33secs, ......59 secs-1min 5secs, i strongly feel these 16 secs contained totally unneccessary and so totally opposite to what i felt that track was all about playing , to me it was like somebody cut and pasted a shredder and dropped it into the song.
apart from those 16 secs, I found your tune to be of the usual ED standard and utterly enjoyable Ed. :dude

Well I thought it needed those 16 seconds. BTW, not a tune, just one of Marins awesome backings.
But i thought the tone merited it being heard.

Ed buddy
Between you and me dude........I think you outplay anybody on this site man, there aint nobody on TGP that I have heard in my time hear who in my opinion comes remotely close to you at all man ..................and I mean this.
I feel when I listen to your clippage , Ed we know how fast you can play and how you like to minor 9th and all that , but I just want to hear you play from within and make me sit up and listen. Far too many "clever" players out there , I just wanna hear music.
I know you know what I mean buddy, keep posting your clips, I find the musical element to be inspirational.

Awesome playing Ed, I especially loved the fast lick right at the end and the slidey thing before that.
The Vigier is fretless, no?
Amazing you can play like that on a fretless.
Killer tone too, reminded me of 'Road Games' era Holdsworth but with more teeth.
I am seriously considering a Flexi as my next amp purchase.

nope, that's one of my fretted Vigiers...the Shawn lane model. Compleetely flat fretboard...no radius whatsoever.

you know what i REALLY want to hear you do Ed ?
you knock out something with the magnitude of gilmours solo on another brick in the wall , and then i will truly blown away , all that fast and clever playing goes in one of my ears and whizzes out the other , another brick in the wall has a solo i feel is just beyond belief in every way, Id love to hear you do something that makes you draw breath like that solo does Ed.

undoubtedly you are a great technician matte , all that backwards muso stuff, whammying and eventide tonality do absolutely nothing for me whatsoever , notes drenched in delay dont interest me either. it kinda harks back to my utter detesting of everything satriani stands for and i kinda hear it in some of the sonic landscapes you create.
what im dead keen to hear matte is some stuff of yours:-
no whammying
no eventide
delay used sparingly if at all
no backwards music
AND PLAYED FROM THE HEART AND SOUL
raw , passionate , vibrato used beautifully and notes chosen because they simply cant be left out
you got any of this kinda stuff matte ? you are as i say, a monster technician, but id love to hear you play from the heart . i hope you have something you can post for me to enjoy dude.

some trouble should be made --- it seems to be another personality requirement for electric guitarists.
how, exactly, do you view your own music-critic-approach to ed's playing, being presented as if you know & can already also achieve what's musically "up"?
o, ye, who seem partially responsible for the profundity of threading that has proven so key to the harmonycentralisation of TGP:
verily, i say:
firstly, go ye forth and allow thine own playing to be so regularly subjected to misanthropic, myopic, microscopic & mostly meaningless dissections;
love thy neighbor as thyself;
if a member so doth become cheeky with thee on thine musical ass, turneth so thine other cheek.

let not the fruit rotteth on the vine.

matte , you get so much pleasure in antagonising others, you must lead a very solitary and lonely life. guys like you used to get beat to pulp in the school i went to in the 80s dude, i really should empathise with you, but you dont deserve sentiment.
despised on the LPF.......you certainly were matte , ask greg wilson, he just LOVED YOU.......not !!
and you bring your psychological vitriol to new pastures such as TGP. wander from place to place without a friend.......very sad.

I hope this thread really blossoms for you , your track fully deserves a listen, im butting out of this one.
Like id said in previous reply, we had a sterling spell at TGP whilst Matte wasnt here for whatever reason he wasnt here. He is only back and he is antagonising me once more, its kinda like obsessive compulsive disorder which is indeed a medical condition, the guy just cannot let go , nitpicks my every word in an attempt to undermine me .
I should not have to endure my every written word being torn apart by somebody whom i feel has a problem ,
Ed, may loads more hear your talent my friend.:D

Ed,
Wow that is a really great clip.
If you don't mind me asking a gear question - how did you mic your cabinet on this? What kind of mic, where, etc. I assume that you added the stereo delay with an onboard effects unit?
Sorry if this question doesn't fit with the tone of the rest of this thread...
Again, though, fantastic playing. Thanks for posting it.

Sennheiser E609S. Cab was a Demeter iso cab. Also ran a Hot Plate set to -16dB.
delay added as plug-in in the software.

Awesome!!! I love the "sax-like" sounds you're squeezing out of that amp.
Check out this cat on the Carvin site, same ball park in sound:
Hear Tambokgt's clip (http://apps.carvin.com/cgi-bin/ubbcgi/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=8;t=009542)
Can I ask what brand pre and power tubes you're using? Speakers? I'm getting the impression tubes and speakers make almost as much of a difference as the amp.
Thanks.
