I rec. this in my lounge with the MD and aebersold thru speakers. It sounds so much better to me than my normal thing which is thru the pc.
Anyone able to guess gtr/amp combo?

Your clip sounds great. The thing I love about your playing is the way your subvisions are so locked in. That's one wonderful thing about playing with fingers. With the pick, it's so hard to get that piece of plastic locked into the beat. In my mind, very few cats can do that.

Squier Strat and a SS Crate? (I'm serious.)

I record with MD more than anything else, and it can give suprisingly good results. (The guitar actually sounds like a cheap archtop here, even though I'd be surprised if it wasn't your low-end Strat.)

Great traditional-style command of the instrument, as usual.

Did it really sound that bad!

It WAS the Squier mini thru roland cube. I kinda liked it, but then I am warped...I like the "zing" that gets added to the sound by the mic picking up some of the acoustic sound of the gtr...

Thanks for the compliment...I felt like i was managing to play stuff that had the melody close by at all times...

I remember being completely knocked out by a friend's lowly Crate amp I'd plugged a stock Tele into. It was about the size of a large shoebox, and we were playing at very low volume.

So when I said "Crate", that's the experience with them that I was thinking of.

Excellent playing again Richard! Your sense of time is SOOOOO on the money. I can see why you have a hard time listening to guys who are not so tight. ( Like me. :mad: ) Very tasty, and I actually think I hear some Django influence here and there....... I always love the augmented\whole tone lines. :dude Great job!!

I completely understand! Actually the roland Cube sounds VERY good to me turned up. they were kinda like the 80's Polytones of Australia or South Africa...

I went to Manhattan School of Music, and recieved my Master's Degree in Jazz Performance. The proram was highly performance oriented, with clases that covered improvisation and advanced harmonic theory(based on Dave Libmans book ). The cool thing here was that Liebman was teaching the class. We also had a lot of combo's and private lessons. Overall very little paper work exept a couple of jazz ped. papers, and also a big band arr.
I learned alot from going there, and the level of my fellow students where really good.

Yes Rodney Jones teaches there as well as Jack Wilkins. I met them a few times, but I never had any lessons with any of them.
My teacher was guitarist Chris Rosenberg, former Ornette Coleman sideman. He is a great musician, a woderful person and the best teacher I have ever had. I highly recommend him.
