I'm betting Bryon Scott is done in Cleveland. He'll get out somehow.

You know I'm kind of secretly hoping for Byron Scott too. He had the prettiest jump shot I ever saw during the Showtime Laker years and I think the guy is a Laker at heart for sure.

I keep hearing Rick Adelman's name, but he hates the media. LA would not be a good fit in that aspect.

LOL at Scott, you know, given the bang up job he did in Cleveland.

How about Jim Cleamons? The guy's been invaluable part of the Jackson team for years, he knows the system, and I reckon he's still a tough mo-fo.
Gotta be Jim Cleamons.
I lived in LA during the Showtime years, then left about the same time Byron Scott did. I was astonished when he later turned into coaching material.
He got the NJ Nets to the Finals a couple times, so he must know something. I'm not sure how he lost the ear of his players, but it did happen. I am not totally convinced he's all that sharp.
And it appears Kareem's health issues have knocked him out of the running. Always thought it was a shame that his earlier standoffishness doomed his coaching possibilities. No question he's a sharp guy.
Here's the funniest of all possible nominations (and no one else made, so I will do it now): Bill Laimbeer. Imagine him as a Lakers coach? Blood would be running down Sunset Boulevard!
Hey, he took that WNBA team to three titles. And by acting as Kurt Rambis' assistant in Minnesota, evidently he knows how to bury the hatchet (ooh, bad choice of words) and get along with old enemies.

I think the Lakers will distance themselves some from Phil and his system - Adelman's corner offense has some similarities to the triangle, as I understand it. As a Houstonian and a Rockets fan I am sad to see Adelman go...
The Lakers will pick up Rick Adelman.
Phil's coming to the Knicks after he sorts himself out. Awesome for us, means we will be signing Kobe, or some other superstar, since he can't coach any scrubs....

I think they would be smart to try a new system and make some trades. I think the locker room is broken.
With that in mind Adelman or Scott. I'd go with Scott because LA is a hellish town in terms of media and the Lakers. It needs someone ready for the microscope and I think Scott would be it.

I think you need a guy to keep things roughly the same, except that Dwight Howard will be in the middle rather than Bynum. Artest will be out, but they will find another rebounder who is coachable. I say it will be Shaw.

Wasn't the old system sorta successful? That's why I suggest Cleamons.
