This weekend, I happend to see Thor twice. Once with my kids and once with my girlfriend. I don't go to too many movies preferring to own on BluRay and hate the cost of the theaters, but also figiured what the heck and go see my kind of movie. The movie was great IMHO (not Godfather great but great fun) and both times, in two different theaters miles apart, the sound was terrible. One, the front left and right channels were out (I assume though may be wrong that there are similar or more channels in a real theater than typical home theater) and the left one occasionally sprung to life with a short/crackling sound before dying out in a buzz. The other theater had no bass, no sub channel of any sort. Almost like listening thru a megaphone or 50's A.M. radio. Both theaters are large, Regal chains (Crossgates 18 and Malta NY) and both were the 2d variety. I'm surprised that a reasonably new release and theaters aren't checked for sound at least working to spec.
The kids and the girlfriend balked at the 3d, saying "those movies hurt my eyes and don't look clear". Just wanted to vent, or state moreso than ask for a solution, as the real solution is just not go anymore. But the kids and GF aren't about to back me on that all the time.
On a positive note, I got Comic Geek Wood at the previews...Capitan America, Green Lantern, Xmen First Class, Cowboys and Aliens, Super 8. My kind of movies!

I was also VERY stoked at the previews and thinking of upcoming movies. I thoroughly enjoyed Thor too. Our local theater has great sound. I told my wife I wanna go back and watch it in 3D just to see if it's more awesome. There were definitely parts where I thought myself "man 3D woulda been super awesome there"
