Need advice: ship amp head, or check in flight case?

I'm moving back to the States and I have a K&M custom I need to bring back with me. I'm on the fence as to whether to ship it FedEx or to check it on my flight using a flight case with a couple of TSA pad locks.

Anyone with travel experience have any opinions as to which is a safer bet? The cost difference is substantial, but I'm not too concerned with the cost as I'm being reimbursed for the move and I want to get it there in one piece.

I've had no damage issues when checkin' in heads on a flight in an anvil case, throw a couple pair of boxers in with the glass . If the amp was small enough , I carry it on the plane . I've carried on a couple Sovtek MiG 50's around the globe

The way luggage gets lost, I would handcuff myself to it!
