Mine is Appleton 12 Year Reserve. What is yours?

I ask because Appleton is impossible to find in Oklahoma (for me at least)... So I am looking for another smooth rum. I like Sailor Jerry's well enough, but am looking for something a bit smoother for sipping, not mixing.

GO!

Same here, thanks for reminding me I went to Jamaica. We got so hammered on Appletons I had almost forgot we were there.

Great thread since I'm considering alternate "neat" rums to try. I just put down a shot of Cruzan aged dark rum and it was pretty decent for the price, I know it mixes well so thought I would try it neat.

Havana Club 15-yr old.

And just where might you be buying that contraband? :mmm:p Seriously though, Havana Club is amazing.

Barbancourt is my favorite non Cuban rum. It almost stands up to Havana Club (both full-bodied sugar cane rums).

Havana Club 15-yr old.

This.

Cruzan Single Barrel Estate Rum is also nice but not as good as the Havana Club 15.

Usually neat but sometimes straight up. Never mixed with anything.

Ron Zacapa 23yr old, one of the best liquors i have ever tasted (and it's my career).

Little known but great: Anything from Prichards (Tennessee).

I also really enjoy Pyrat, for a little less cash then the other two.

cheers

Been living in the West Indies for the last 6 years and drinking a lot of rum (not necessarily all quality rum, mind you). Best I've had for the money is El Dorado 15 out of Guyana. The 21 year old is twice as much, but not worth the difference.

Havana Club 15-yr old.

Havana Club for the win! Unfortunately, can't be bought in the US as far as I know. I'm partial to El Dorado 12 or 15 yr old as well. Over 15 yrs tends to be too sweet for me. Oh, yeah, Santa Teresa 1796 is super good too but I can't find it here.

If you can't find the good stuff in your area I think the best generally available rum you can buy in most stores these days if you want to avoid Bacardi (I dislike all their rums that I've tried) is 4 year old Cruzan. Either that, or order over the internet!

Not a single mention of Pusser's? It's been over 20 years since I've had a drink, but I used to enjoy (read: get plastered on) Pusser's when it was available.

I'm a big fan of Sailor Jerry, but I haven't bought any since I discovered:
http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_1d1tZKp8z14/S6tfXcfhPUI/AAAAAAAAEaA/HLVU0RP4WbY/s400/KrakenRum.jpg

It's fantastic on the rocks, but reasonably priced so that you don't feel bad when your friends come over and mix it with cola.

It also gives you an excuse to say "RELEASE THE KRAKEN!!!"
