Check out Jackson's Rare Guitars site. There's a clip of Smokin' Joe playing a '53 Tele. He's got more going on besides his acoustic Tommy-style playing. Talent + lots of hard work.
I checked my music collection and lo and behold, Joe appears solo on Lee Ritenour's Six String Theory (2010) playing a tune called "Daddy Longlicks."
He's got the raw talent. Now all he needs is a few ten thousands of hours of playing to get as good as Tommy!
He doesn't have anywhere near the dynamics and timing accuracy of Tommy. He also needs work on his showmanship, one of Tommy's many strong points.
Still, he's one to watch for. Thanks for the head's up.

I've been watching this kid for a while now, and he just keeps getting better and showing a lot of versatility and command of the instrument.
It's really depressing that he's even a few years younger than me and lightyears ahead of me.
