I have been looking at a Matchless Spitfire can you give me some feedback on it? How you liking it after you have owned it for a while.

I've had my '96 2.5 years now or so. Actually owned two at one time... but that's another story. I am still blown away by it consistently, and it has made me a Matchless junkie (always looking for the next one...)
The EQ/voicing is pretty much perfect for a 15 watter, the response is amazing, and if you like cleaner / edge of breakup / crunch tones it's a fantastic. If you like crunch / more crunch, the Lightning or Nighthawk would be better.
I have a 1x12 and am actually going to try a 2x12 setup just to see if I can get a fuller sound and more harmonics going. It's a tradeoff because opening up that 30 watter G12H30 is part of the current sound I enjoy. We'll see how it goes.

Haven't had mine long, but I love that G12H30 combo with this amp. I don't think I've ever not played it dimed straight in. Sounds so sweet with a Tele/LP.

The master volume or just the gain?

It's a great amp. Tone control really works. Had mine since the 90's.

I love mine. Great overall voicing for a compact 15-watter. I essentially run my at a smooth clean with clarity, punch, and warmth. Then I hit the rest with pedals. I like the stock Matchless modified G12H30 as well.

Both were cranked. Its funny, but it really opens up in a big room. One of the nice things about it is you can also play it clean and use a pedal for dirt.

Not without trying a Bad Cat Cub IIR first. If you lift the tone stack it's very similar to the Spitfire (with a Cut knob instead of a Tone knob), but you get reverb. And if you put the tone stack back in, then you're basically playing with a Lightning reverb. Two amps in one!
I looked and looked and looked... Spitfires, Lightnings, cool -- but the Bad Cat next to them was a very eye-opening thing. And much much more useful.
