This may be a weird question/idea, but why hasn't Fender ever made a 6 string electric guitar with a Jazz Bass body? By that I mean offset double cutaway with strat-like horns. It seems like every other body shape has been transferred between basses and guitars regularly, like the mustang, jazzmaster/jaguar, and precision bass/strat.

I for one think a guitar with a Jazz Bass body would look pretty slick. I wish I was good at photoshop so I could see it instead of imagining it in my mind.

They did, it's called a Telecaster!

Ed Bickert, Ted Green and Joe Pass, yep that ought to do it.

No, the body shape of a Fender Jazz Bass. A telecaster and a Jazz Bass are completely different animals.

Just imagine this with more strings and different pickups http://www.rockpalace.com/gfx_productcode/105220/2/Fender-Classic-70s-Jazz-Bass-Black-Rosewood.jpg

I have seen "this" with more strings and unfortunately, it was still a bass!

sounds kinda like a jazzmaster to me.

the jazzmaster already has a huge, long-ass body; if they put full-on strat horns on it, it would hang even further to the right.

Yeah, the Jazzmaster was intended to be the complement to the Jazz Bass.

Pretty kickass instruments, I think. I wouldn't give up my J-bass for anything.

Couldn't agree more! They also made a 6-string guitar out of the '51 Precision Bass. There's a Squier model like this, and I think the Robin Wrangler also was based on the '51 P Bass.

Anyway, after a lot of searching, the closest I could find was the Hofner Galaxie. Sorry I didn't embed the image. Lazy I guess.
