TC Flashback vs AD999

I've read a lot of the TC Flashback threads, but can't find anyone's experience A/B'ing the FB with the AD999. Any insights on this?

As different as they can be... the Flashback won't even go near the soft analog sound of the Maxon, but as you would expect is far more versatile. If you need a delay sound that is "sharper" than analog but not with the usual drawbacks of other digital delays (not integrating well with the original tone, for example) then the Flashback is a great choice, plus you can dial it to another mode (or toneprint) if you are not happy with the way it sounds. The Maxon is a one-trick pony, but a wonderful one.

I have a FB and dig it a lot, but I keep wanting something else that is a completely different flavor too, like the AD999. But I'd like dedicated tap tempo, modulation, and a tone control, which neither of these pedals have. But I do like the longer delay time the AD999 has over almost all other analog delays.

Well the AD999 and the Flashback are probably my two favourite delays! They are extremely different but equally good - the Maxon because it is the quietest, most musical (for my taste) delay out there, and the Flashback because it is so compact and versatile. The analog setting on the Flashback is actually very good but sounds almost nothing like the Maxon. I don't care because it sounds good anyway. I've owned lots of much more expensive delays but like the sounds of the Flashback more than most except the AD999.

One of each is perfect!
