Can't stand coffee at all.
And for all the people who whine about needing their coffee for a caffeine fix....drink a hot tea brewed with Tetley British blend bags. 2x the caffeine of coffee and a good taste.

Cilantro here. No like.
It's well-known that cilantro tastes soapy to people that have a certain gene for this. Just like whether or not your pee smells funny to you after eating asparagus depends on your genes, too.
I've never heard anything about coffee in this regard, though.

Don't like the taste of coffee as a drink or as a flavor, but I love the smell.
Love cilantro.

Never had coffee, tea or hot chocalate. I don't like hot liquid, they don't smell very desireable and Pepsi is good enough.

But.... Caffeine (Coke Zero) is my friend!

I can tolerate black coffee. I don't much enjoy it unless it's really primo stuff. Most coffee has a very acidic after taste I do not like. A bit of salt usually can overcome this (but I for some reason feel terrible doing this).
I love coffee flavored things: lattes, cappuccino (maybe I just like espresso?), coffee cake, hot chocolate made with coffee, etc.
Hot tea (usually with a bit of honey) is superior to coffee IMO.

On the other hand you have the people who profess that they love coffee, but then drink it with so much milk, sugar, etc... that coffee would be way down on the ingredient list. The true test of good coffee is an espresso. A good espresso is a moment in heaven.

You gotta have good coffee--espresso when possible. Otherwise, a nice french press with just ground, recently roasted beans makes some good coffee. I can't stand anything made by an electric drip brewer no matter the beans, especially if it was brewed more than a few minutes prior. I'd drink nothing over it. People also tend to have very poor grind to water ratios yeilding uber-watery coffee.

Dig the smell; leaves one of the most grotesque after-tastes known to mankind. Absolutely horrific for the stomach and body. Oils, acids, caffeine out the wazoo. Yuck.
But is does serve its purpose as a good vehicle for Baileys or a good smokey whiskey, for the occasional after dinner dessert drink. Otherwise, no thanks.
And, at least IMHO, there is nothing more rancid than being in a Starbucks for more than 30 seconds......then leaving and smelling like you just took a 5-mile swim in a vat of burnt coffee. Oh wait, there is one thing that approaches that level of rancid.....
the breath of somebody that just took a good swig of java.
Otherwise, I love the stuff. Yummy!

Can't imagine starting my day without my one cup of coffee for the day. Organic Kona shipped overnight the day it is roasted. Mmmmmmmmmm.
The smell of coffee brewing reminds me of Saturday mornings when I was a kid and my dad made breakfast for the family. Good memories.

Love the thread! I like some coffee and my wife can't stand it, which pretty much means I haven't had a coffee pot in the house for 16 years. Seriously, she won't go down the cereal aisle because of the coffee....me or the kids have to go pick out cereal...

I used to not like cilantro, but I got tired of trying to avoid it in Mexican food. So I decided to like it. Now I like it.
Brussels sprouts to are probably the most disgusting vegetable. The smell like poop to me.
Coffee I love. Tea is too weak.

I can see why a non-addict would hate consuming old or mediocre coffee. However, freshly brewed quality coffee from freshly ground beans is extraordinarily enjoyable. +1 for espresso. +1 for french-presses. I enjoy really good coffee black.

I have tried coffee multiple times over the years with the same result. Can't stand it. I hate the smell and the taste. I'm jealous of coffee drinkers though. I feel like I'm excluded from a club or something. They seem to enjoy it so much. I want to get it, but I just can't.

Coffee rules.
If I don't get a fresh expresso from my machine within 20 minutes of waking up I'm a mess. Then another a couple hours later around 9am. Then one more with lunch.
The first hit of good coffee in the morning is f_cken sublime. Oh man...

Thanks for the link. I also found links and articles about coffee being the number one cause of cancer of the esophagus, impedes natural brain opiates, etc., etc., etc.
However, there were a few articles stating that coffee may positively affect people relative to some diseases. But in the 1/2 dozen or so articles I just read (got bored after that), none of them stated that coffee does have a positive effect. The research about its positive effects seems to be inconclusive.
But hey - when Big Food Inc. is involved, I am sure there will be plenty of dough put into research in order to find that coffee is a magic bullet for something.
Sort of like the "doctors" that have found HFCS to be O.K. too - you know, the ones hired by the National Corn Growers Association et al.
Tea has about half the caffeine of coffee
That is almost true........it actually has approximately 1/3 amount of caffeine compared to coffee, but it does stay in your system longer. Matcha, Japanese powdered green tea, is known to have about the same amount of caffeine content of standard coffee. Tea bags, often filled with sub-standard stale tea dust, do steep stronger but generally do not have anymore caffeine. If you're a tea person, it is well worth it to find good loose tea that is fresh.
Drinking a nice hot cup of coffee right now! When I was younger, I'd have to drink it with cream and lots of sugar. Now I can't drink it unless it's straight.
Went to a Starbucks one time and told them I wanted a large plain black coffee. The girl at the counter had a confused WTF look on her face.
I finally was able to get a "venti" plain black coffee and to me it tasted awful. I guess people who love Starbucks get their's loaded with all that other stuff to mask the actual flavor of the coffee they use :dunno
I'll just take the simple old cup of Maxwell House.

Tea is the only treatment-- a poor substitute... but alas... still doomed to failure.

I don't hate coffee, but I don't drink it either. I had a taste once, and thought it was awful. That was back in college, and now I'm 45.
I am OK with with coffee flavored ice cream.
For whatever reason, I am able to start my day arbitrarily early without a jolt of a stimulant.
I have nothing against coffee lovers. Its great that people can find pleasures in life.

I used to never drink coffee at all. However this all changed when I worked at a Starbucks during High School. It was a bit weird being interviewed and having to state that I didn't drink coffee. But after a bit of time I ended up drinking everything from straight espresso, to lattes, cappucinos, and of course plain black coffee (I like it with cream too). I have been living in England now for about a year and a half and I must say that the standard of coffee in Europe blows America out of the water.Thou there are some great coffeeshops to be found in America (Mostly in larger cities like NYC etc)
