I'm listening ALL the time to The Soft Boys' album "Underwater Moonlight".
The songs are just fantastic.. such an underrated group. And the guitarplaying and guitartones are some of the best I've heard. Sounds like Fender guitar into Fender or maybe Vox amps played quite loud. I would really like to know what gear Robyn and Kim used back in the day? It's really hard to find live pictures of the group from around that time.

top vid is Rew playing with the Waves pre Soft Boys (an SG, not sounding very Soft Boyish) and then the Soft Boys (pre Rew) playing. . . I don't know, my eyes aren't that good

Rew's website also has some pic of him playing a Strat
Tele (Hitchcock) and Strat (Rew) in this more recent reunion vid, same as in Alexander's vid above, so that may be the Soft Boys formula, though for some reason, I often picture Robyn playing a Rickenbacker

I always thought Robyn played a Tele, but my tastes ran toward what I was exposed to: his solo stuff up to "Globe of Frogs." There's a shot of him with a Tele on the cover of "Element of Light" iirc. Amps sound more Voxy than Fendery to me.
